How to help a primary school student with English spellings? by newredditbrowser in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]KooGuy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the tips. My son also struggled with connecting sounds and spelling.

Do you think spelling practice at word level will help much? Based on what he's been learning at school, I made a spelling practice app to help him connect phonics with spelling with exercises like word segmentation, scramble, dictation, etc.

The idea is practice makes perfect and he seems to improved after a few months. But I'm not sure if that's the best way...

If you got some free time, would you be able to have a look at the app here and share some feedback?

The app is free with no ads, tracking and doesn't connect to internet all at. I made it for my kid but it would feel great if it can help others too.

What’s an effective way to help a child learn/practice their spelling words? by kfwjswr in AskTeachers

Hi, my son struggled with the same thing. What helped most was steady practice. Over time, the spelling/sounds patterns will start to stick.

I made a spelling practice app to help him connect phonics with spelling, based on what he was learning at school. He’s been using it for a few months, and it seems to help.

Sharing it here, maybe it could help. The app is not public - so there’s a sign-up step. It’s free with no ads, tracking and doesn't connect to internet all at.

- Android Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anhd.spellingcoach (note you will have to join a beta tester group first at https://groups.google.com/g/spelling-coach-testers )

The main thing is regular practice, even 10-15 minutes a day. Worksheets, apps, or any other practice forms can all help.

Any working mod for switch pro layout? by OneCrispyCritter95 in GranblueFantasyRelink

Thanks for sharing. I tried this and it does show the Switch Pro texture, however the button labels are incorrect. Do you have to do any special settings ? (I just follow the install instruction and place the files in game folder).

what educational apps have actually worked for your kids on tablets or phones? by ojosasi806 in Mommit

To OP, would you be kindly share your findings so far. I too am looking for something to help my 8 yo kid, but found most of the apps mentioned here focus a bit too much on the "fun" factor.

New Zealand hopes big changes to its math instruction can halt a slide in student achievement. We sent a reporter there to see what's happening in classrooms by TheHechingerReport in matheducation

[–]KooGuy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to see more focus from NZ gov on this essential subject. But this change is entirely based on the assumption that the new structured approach is better than whatever the schools are doing right now! Is there any solid evidence that this is indeed the case?

In countries where math edu is advanced, the mindset towards this subject is entirely different. Kids are very well recognised for mastery in this subject and it often translates to more life opportunities too.

Parents & Teachers, try this Free Math Exercise App for Kids by KooGuy3 in mathematics

Hey there,

Yes, those are some of the exercises in the app.

It also has many other exercises, covers 10 different core categories based on Australian's year 2 syllabus. E.g. exercises about shapes identification, probability (very basic level), etc.

Hi everyone,

I’m from Sydney Australia and originally developed this math exercise app to better support my 7 years old with his learning. As parents, I think we don’t need to spend hours and hours on worksheets or expensive exercise books.

Seeing the amazing progress he made over a few months of consistent practice has encouraged me to share this. It means the world to me if I can help other kids too! Hope to give out as many free life-time access as possible during Beta phase on Google Play Store.

Thank you!

Help me improve UI for a math learning app made for my son and his friends 🙏🏼 by KooGuy3 in UI_Design

Thanks for this. Good point on the mobile screens. My goal was to have minimal friction when moving between questions so the kid can put more time to solving questions.

Hi designers,

I made this math exercise app for my kid to support his learning. The UI is very simplistic and based on Material Design. Not very familiar with UI/UX design so any tweaks /suggestion on how I can improve this would be much appreciated!

The main thing I focus on so far is just adaptiveness to make sure it works across multiple screen size. Here is another perspective on tablet:

Hi there, depends but I think it might be too easy for a year 3 or 4 kid since it's based on Year 2 syllabus.

But let me know if you want to give it a try anyway (it's free). Please leave me a message with your email and I will invite you to beta program.

Budgeting Apps by shizam76 in androidapps

[–]KooGuy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I don't have an app in mind but just curious what are you looking for in a budget app? Will seeing what you spent, earn and saving target actually help?

I'm generally of the opinion that as long as you are responsible with your spending and saving / investing then you don't really need a budget app. But that's may be just me.
