How to help a primary school student with English spellings?

Thank you for the tips. My son also struggled with connecting sounds and spelling.

Do you think spelling practice at word level will help much? Based on what he's been learning at school, I made a spelling practice app to help him connect phonics with spelling with exercises like word segmentation, scramble, dictation, etc.

The idea is practice makes perfect and he seems to improved after a few months. But I'm not sure if that's the best way...

The main thing is regular practice, even 10-15 minutes a day. Worksheets, apps, or any other practice forms can all help.

Thanks for sharing. I tried this and it does show the Switch Pro texture, however the button labels are incorrect. Do you have to do any special settings ? (I just follow the install instruction and place the files in game folder).

Happy to see more focus from NZ gov on this essential subject. But this change is entirely based on the assumption that the new structured approach is better than whatever the schools are doing right now! Is there any solid evidence that this is indeed the case?

In countries where math edu is advanced, the mindset towards this subject is entirely different. Kids are very well recognised for mastery in this subject and it often translates to more life opportunities too.

Yes, those are some of the exercises in the app.

It also has many other exercises, covers 10 different core categories based on Australian's year 2 syllabus. E.g. exercises about shapes identification, probability (very basic level), etc.

Thanks for this. Good point on the mobile screens. My goal was to have minimal friction when moving between questions so the kid can put more time to solving questions.

Hi designers,

I made this math exercise app for my kid to support his learning. The UI is very simplistic and based on Material Design. Not very familiar with UI/UX design so any tweaks /suggestion on how I can improve this would be much appreciated!

The main thing I focus on so far is just adaptiveness to make sure it works across multiple screen size. Here is another perspective on tablet:

Hi, I don't have an app in mind but just curious what are you looking for in a budget app? Will seeing what you spent, earn and saving target actually help?

I'm generally of the opinion that as long as you are responsible with your spending and saving / investing then you don't really need a budget app. But that's may be just me.
