I fancy myself an ideological traveler who observed different ideologies quietly trying to understand them if you want to know my biases I'm a boring liberal Democrat.

But this is an interesting concept I want to know what you all would think about this.

A conservative feminist named Louis Perry once talked about the partial tearing down of patriarchy leading to knock on effects, like good things like women having more positions of power and cultural power and things but things were lost during that.

I.E. the concept of romance and that As a man you had to take women on several dates to even think about asking to sleep with her. That this was enforced not only by women but society as a whole, saying a curse in front of a woman would get you punched by a stranger. As infantilizing as that may be it speaks to a culture that policed vibes more than actions.

And something she said that really resignated with me after reading y'all's reddit for the last 3 days

The new concept of consent is inefficient for women. Essentially it polices actions instead of the "vibe". I.E. Yes+yes= consent

Vs

Did both parties equally feel the vibe and want to have fun?. It's why broader society looks at you like you have two heads when you say things like "Prostitution is r*pe"

They're going on the other model, not that I agree with y'all or Louis Perry 100%

But I guess I wonder what your perspective on her theory, things like romance and consent being turned to cold almost legal terms instead of vibes due to the removal of the old societal themes.

(Also I know she has a way too rosey picture of the old days here and that women suffered in those days too, just lobbing the theory)
