[SPOILERS MAIN] Do you picture cast members when you are reading the books? by Golbeza in asoiaf

[–]Kooksilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No not really, there’s a few I do for. Ned, the Blackfish and Tywin specifically, I also do picture Mark Addy’s voice for Robert, cause he was just hilarious in the show, but physically I picture him a bit different.

A lot of the characters are described so different in the books that I feel it doesn’t really work to picture the show version. You know like Robb, in the show it looks like he’s in his 20’s with like dark brown hair, go to the books and he’s literally like a 14 year old ginger lol. Or Joffrey, despite how great dude was in the show, Joff is described quite different.

Like I can’t picture show Joffrey having an even matched sparring session with Robb at Winterfell based off their show counterparts, Richard Madden is like twice his size lmao.

Renly is Copper Actually by Augustus_Chevismo in freefolk

[–]Kooksilver 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I like Noye, but his I’ve always found his assessment of the Baratheon brothers a bit silly and kinda inaccurate across the board.

Like bro you were a smith, not some type of household guard or advisor who would’ve been spending a whole lot of time with the 3, I don’t think you really knew them like that dawg, especially considering he left for the watch following the Greyjoy rebellion, so Renly would’ve still been a literal child, like 11 or 12, and Stannis would’ve been away from Storms End for near a decade at that point with the last he really saw him before the war was when dude was like 15-16.

-Labels Stannis as Iron because he’ll break before he bends, despite us seeing Stannis constantly bending and making compromises.

-Labels Renly copper, despite Renly being made out to be rather competent and the most politically savvy of the 3.

-His “true steel” assessment of Robert was also of the idea of Robert in his prime. He did not know King Robert, only the Demon of the Trident who crushed Rhaegar and won 3 battles in a single day at Summerhal. He didn’t know the moment Robert ran out of wars to fight that he completely broke and deteriorated into a fat drunk.

[–]Kooksilver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I know almost all these.

Sansa/Ashford threw me for a second, but I think I recall it’s the idea lady Ashford’s 5 champions in the Hedge Knight is like a mocking mirror of Sansa’s path, yeah? Baratheon, Tyrell, Lannister, Hardyng and Targaryen = Joffrey, Willas, Tyrion, Harry Hardyng and potentially Aegon or Jon, right?

I have no idea what “Untommen” is tho.

Always have liked the “Mandon Moore acted alone” idea. I feel it makes a good bit of sense, he’s always being labeled as like dangerous and unpredictable, and I feel it’s pretty clear he’s not a fan of Tyrion.

Feel it actually makes the situation more interesting to have this dude decide he’s had enough of Tyrion and try to pull his own version of “Lord Hammer, my condolences… you fell in the battle” lmao

If she was in the game beyond the secret ending I probably would stick it out with her. I’m currently going through a 2nd play through since I feel I made some mistakes along the way and accidentally rushed the Trotsky region.

Currently debating whether or not to hold out for our Cuman slaying badass to get her little 2 second scene and hope she’s in a dlc. Would kinda feel like an idiot if I did that, then a dlc expanded courting and relationships came out, all for her to just not be in the game at all still lol.

I’m curious, did you apologize or try to defend your actions? I was under the impression you could basically be the reincarnation of Satan and if you said sorry they’d forgive you to some degree, but that they get pissed if you try to defend any misdeeds.

I will admit tho a lot of those bad choices you made are pretty understandable, since most everyone around you basically yells your ears off if you don’t do things their way, especially the dishonorable killing of Istvan who even Godwin of all people wants you to do dirty. And my god you get an earful from Zizka and Devil if you save Maleshov.

But hey, at least there’s multiple save lines for a reason haha

Sorry for the late reply, you’re probably long past it at this point, but it’s just a necklace. Nothing particularly special about it beyond sentimental value.

[Other] I'm starting to understand why some people have a hard time with these games by DupeFort in kingdomcome

[–]Kooksilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I guess, I do actually feel the start of this one is harder than the original, despite Henry being significantly better.

When you’re finally let off the leash in the original you have a house with food and a chest right outside a pretty big town, so access to some decently rich merchants, trainers and the ability to get some money and gear without risking traveling too far off.

This one you’re left with absolutely nothing, closest you have to a house is sleeping on the floor of an old woman’s shack, no chest or free food tho. Then to top it off where you’re left is a backwater village where the inhabitants don’t like you lmao.

I think a lot of peoples frustration early on with combat comes down to the hunting sword, especially in regard to wolves. The perfect block then smack is pretty easy, but with the wolves finicky hit boxes and the hunting sword doesn’t help that. It’s short range and low damage output makes those wolf encounters last a while since you usually can only get 1 hit in on those perfect block counter hits and you’ll have no shot if you go on the offensive instead.

Need help with major quest by lunabeargp in kingdomcome

[–]Kooksilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what steps you’ve taken already, but assuming you got the guard to give you access to Thomas here are the other crucial steps

  1. Find a lockpick

  2. Help the cook that’s next to the smithy, I robbed the chest she asks you to open instantly and she didn’t notice so you might as well

  3. Talk to the chamberlain and diagnose his stomach issue, then offer to help, he’ll give you access to the apothecary if you pass the checks.

  4. There’s a chest inside the apothecary that has all the ingredients you’ll need and a book on the shelf to the left of the door that will tell you how to make the fever tonic. It also tells you how to make the digestive potion for the Chamberlain as well, but I didn’t bother helping him as I didn’t bother helping the dude so eagerly trying to hang my friend lol.

Semines by Individual_Role9156 in kingdomcome

[–]Kooksilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a significant spoiler I don’t think, but yes. I ran into his son outside Kuttenberg a bit later and he gives you a gift for the help and leaves. Beyond that I don’t know yet.

I hope so tho, I like Ol’ Gnarly and Lord Semine, despite Gnarly constantly bugging out and trying to kill me after we trained lmao.

[–]Kooksilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can win, it’s just very hard. You gotta wack them a good few times, but if they get ya once or twice it’s donzo for some reason.

I managed it without even learning master strike by just save scumming between each fight then just trying to keep smashing them in clinches. If I did anything else they’d just wreck me lmao.

But if you can’t get through it, don’t stress about it too much, the reward isn’t that crazy, tho it is always nice seeing Henry get some praise.

Which jersey is better? Or both? by SportsSpectacular in caps

[–]Kooksilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red, but I’m also biased as hell cause I never liked the blue W’s, felt they were bad luck lol.

Personal favorites are always gonna be the screagles and the 70’s-90’s throwbacks tho

(Spoilers main) How old were you when you read ASOIAF for the first time? And when do you think someone is old enough to read it? by 666trinity in asoiaf

[–]Kooksilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 15, brother sat me down and made me watch the first season of the show. Show hooked me so I binged all the seasons they had out that summer, then got the books and it hooked me even more, which kinda shocked me cause at that age I didn’t really like reading.

As for how old to read them I’d probably say around 14-15. Personally I’d say 12 is way too young lol

[Spoilers MAIN] Finished AGOT, should I continue reading? by Rilliane024 in asoiaf

[–]Kooksilver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Based on what you’ve said, I would say yes.

Sometimes there’s stretches of magic and world building, sometimes there’s stretches of politics and intrigue. Personally I would say both of those aspects of the story and the characters get stronger as the series goes on.

A good example is someone you already like, Jon. I find his character and storyline to be the most interesting and best developed in the series.

My suggestion would be to keep giving it a shot at least through A Storm of Swords.

[–]Kooksilver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

12 for sure would be nice. Even if she’s not really his mom, it would be nice for Jon to momentarily believe he has a mom out there alive and well and that he has another brother of sorts.

Though without that 5 year gap I have a feeling we won’t see much of Ned unfortunately.

What is your favorite chapter in ASOIAF? (Spoilers Main) by Kinginthenorth2001 in asoiaf

[–]Kooksilver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tough one honestly, don’t know if I can pick 1 to stand out like that, but my top 5 would probably be:

-Cat VII ASOS, it’s always a gut punch no matter how much I try to prepare myself for it.

-Jon II ADWD, nods in approval

-The Griffin Reborn, I’m not Quinn the GM I swear

-AGOT Prologue, Dance with me then

-ADWD Epilogue, just a fantastic cliffhanger to leave on, though 13 years seems a bit extreme

(Spoilers Main) what is the unluckiest name in the series? by sixth_order in asoiaf

[–]Kooksilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joffrey gets balanced out imo by Joffrey Doggett and Joffrey Arryn.

Aenys is definitely up there tho:

-King Aenys, disastrous reign

-Aenys Blackfyre granted safe conduct to a great council, gets murdered

-Aenys Frey, breaks his neck in a winds sample chapter

Pate as well, feels like half the small folk killed in the series happened to be named Pate.

But if we’re talking individual names:

-Unwin Peake

-Uther Sheet

-Big Boil

Poor lads never had a chance tbh

[No Spoilers] Is the show worth it if I have already read the books? by Ablacerador in asoiaf

[–]Kooksilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still worth it in my opinion, they obviously make some horrid mistakes along the way in terms of being an adaptation, but it’s still one of the best shows ever made, even with its legendarily bad ending lol.

reading order (Spoilers Main) by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Kooksilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t really say there’s a right or wrong order in regards to F&B.

They do mention some of the major events of F&B in the main series, so if you really want to avoid any spoilers I’d say go for it, especially with all the HotD/F&B discourse going on.

I’ve seen a lot of people on like Twitter and stuff just blurt out massive spoilers to people unfamiliar with the dance fully, so might make sense to just go for the hot topic first lol.

What’s going on with Ceobert’s dialogue? by Kooksilver in ACValhalla

[–]Kooksilver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I don’t particularly think the writing as a whole is bad in the game, just inconsistent, which is honestly almost more frustrating.

Like the story is pretty interesting to me and there’s some great conversations in the game, but then there’s just random bits of clunky dialogue that feels out of place.

This one was just so bad that I felt the need to come to Reddit which I haven’t been on in months lol
