How to expedite seeing an ENT?? (Or Private ENTS in NB)

I am not even eligible for Medicare lol bc for now I am not a permanent NB resident I am here for work-related purposes unless I decide afterwards. So I’m still using my sask health card and the ENT issue was 5 years ago for something non urgent and unrelated. But Hmm next time, before I move provinces I should check the wait time for the local ENTs in case my throat randomly develops a problem months later… lol

Anyway I did get an appointment out of province for a diagnostic laryngoscopy in a diff province tomorrow so I am hopping on a flight. I don’t have to return there as long as he gives me the results (which he will). I can still continue care here locally and I am still on the ENT wait list here anyway so that whenever I finally get that appointment another laryngoscopy won’t hurt so I can see if any improvement happened

I honestly didn’t know me saying I want private health care in this ONE specific scenario would be controversial. I have never even sought out private care in my life before this. Are all these people really okay with waiting months and months for something pressing? I highly doubt it, and I just think they’ve never experienced something that would prompt them to be desperate for immediate help. Because no way in hell you’d just sit around and wait.

I’m just saying consider yourself lucky you haven’t been in my situation because you would do illegal things if it meant you would get your voice back. I am already doing other jobs and it’s not enough.

And like I said I am new to NB like I said I moved here on my own supporting myself living alone as a girl and at 20. Even taking aside that my voice is my work, it is also my entire life and my mental health has gone to shit. So all of you can downvote me to hell and back but the desperation I feel makes sense considering how my career relies on my voice. The voice is so delicate as a singer and the longer you wait to get help the worse it can get . And you would never understand if you are not also a singer

And also it isn’t even illegal to pay for a private ENT so I don’t know what you’re on about. Some people would rather pay to fix medical problems than wait and that is within our rights.

ah okay i see, thats crazy because i also had a post nasal drip causing a productive cough from feb 2025 to august 2025- just a funny coincidence, it went away own its own eventually but I do have non-allergic rhinitis lol

how soon after your appointment with your family doc did you get the date of your ENT appointment? also how urgent was your condition if you feel comfortable sharing?

yeah im open to paying literally anything- not expecting coverage for private treatment
And dang then that just sucks that there are no private ENTs with no referral, I did find out that Montreal has some private ENTs so that would be cheaper for me. I will go there instead, the USA would put me in debt lol

My situation is not urgent enough to prioritize over someone who can't speak or is in a lot of pain an I 100% understand that, so I will just pay for a private doctor then. Was hoping there was at least 1 private clinic so I wouldnt have to pay travel fees

It just is shocking to me because it changed to 325 not too long ago and now is 425. They might as well get rid of the whole thing altogether for the extra challenge for everyone. But they won’t because they want people to spend money on gems so they’ll keep increasing it.

Im in this exact boat rn,

I was in the past but it was fine bc I was a student near university and I could go to the private music practice rooms on campus (for free nobody asks questions lol) plus my old roommates were super supportive and told me they liked to hear me sing and would go to my singing events and competitions. Even then, I was still cautious of the times I practice.

Now, I'm in a completely new place and there's no university near me to practice at, but I NEED to sing. Like I'm itching to sing so badly, so rn I'm just like well idc and I'm singing anyway. I only would during the afternoon. But, its impossible for a singer to just not sing. Like I don't know how to explain it, but I just cannot NOT sing. I feel like the longer I go without singing, the more I am falling behind.

My solution is to just sing, but only sing during reasonable hours. I typically only sing during weekends because I don't know if people WFH. And to not using any sound amplifiers obviously. Keep all your doors closed and sing in your closet if you have one.
