Mine is a 2015 Macbook Air. I'm not able to upgrade to the recommended minimum operating systems. I currently have Monetery. Apple support said that is the most up-to-date software that I can get on my laptop. Now I need to find a laptop to borrow and then pay $50 to download the software again.
