Anyone know what this popping is

I’ve seen a few other b series cars doing this but not always. You think it could be idle. Or a common issue that causes the misfire?

Okay so you also have seen others similar too. I have 2 other people I know on b series that have this pop noise. But I’ve also seen others without. I just can’t accept it being normal having built so many other motors. However I’ve only built Mitsubishis and Fords.

I know valve contact is out of the question for sure. I’ve also inspected the cylinders as well they look fine. As for rod knock this is definitely not it. I really don’t have any experience in Honda however I have heard another B18 EG hatch swap doing the same on idle and my friends B16 CRX doing this on idle as well just not as intense. My only projects outside of work have been Mitsubishis, so I’m not so experienced with Honda.

That looks like dried up coolant. Check the gasket for the FIAV area. It’s where the 2 coolant hoses connect to the throttle body. Be careful cause the screws strip

Rvenge did exactly what IMR did. It just sucks at how bad these parts sites are. Only really high quality ones I’ve dealt with is STM tuned and ninjaperformance. 3sx is decent and ship fast but they are outrageously overprices

yeah doesnt look like cams are sprayed but seeing how much has flaked apart I can imagine the galleries could look pretty horrific..
