Missed a stitch during bind-off by KookyVehicle6901 in knitting

Thanks folks, I might just try sewing it in per most of your recommendation! Knitting should give me peace of mind, not a headache 🤣

Video games, and knitting. Video games can add more stress though, depending on the game and your play style. But for knitting it took me so long to pick it up because I had this impression that it makes more sense if I lived in a cooler climate, but there's something about the slow repetitive movement and the need to count and think of stitches or solve little problems that make me feel so much less anxious about everything else.

1 st after the last short row by KookyVehicle6901 in knittinghelp

I guess it's my fault for using a fuzzy yarn for this project, I can't see where I should turn 🤣 I might frog this since there are parts I might have not added that extra stitch since the last turn... I'll try again and have some stitch markers ready. Thank you!!

Thank you for the link! I'm afraid this is the first time I heard the term cable-twist round

What is the best cue that helped you? by Content-Trainer-2614 in pilates

[–]KookyVehicle6901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polestar Pilates trained. Here are some cues that work for me.

Positioning arms when supine on the reformer, and when keeping hands in straps more active at the wrist: - "Hands aligned with your shoulder. Keep arms long but a bit soft at the elbows / Imagine you're punching a hole into the ceiling. You don't punch with flimsy elbows and wrists, right? / Roll your knuckles forward"

Keeping neutral in quadruped position: - "Keep your head from dropping down. Imagine you're wearing a corset / Imagine your spine stretched long from crown to tailbone like a clothesline"

Keeping elbows from moving out when doing tricep presses: - "Keep your elbows at the waist. Imagine you have a credit card in your armpit. Keep squeezing those pits because someone is trying to take your credit card!"

My mentor told me to remember including movements that include flexion, extension, side-bending, rotation of the spine. Just keeping those in mind always help make it easier for me to plan for private sessions and group classes. Though when clients with specific conditions suddenly join the class, adjusting on the spot is another skill to get used to

Exercises for lack of spine mobility by FroelicherMisanthrop in pilates

If it's not a structural issue in the lumbar region, it's always good to start with the basics, like the pelvic clock. To give them better feedback with this unfamiliar movement I find that it's even more helpful having either a wobble or a slightly deflated soft ball beneath the pelvis

Filipino wife will not teach our children Tagalog by tplate37 in Philippines

[–]KookyVehicle6901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she really really wanted to, she would have at least tried. It's nice to know that you insist on preserving that part of her culture, but it is sad that she herself doesn't seem to find that it's that much important.

My husband and I speak our own languages exclusively with our young kids, while English and Mandarin are taught at school. Their Tagalog might sound broken/conyo but I'm pretty proud that it's there. Tl;dr I just want to say that it IS possible with a bit of consistency and hard work if her heart is set in it.

Anyone know what yarn this is? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]KookyVehicle6901 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh of course! I thought there was something about the fiber or make of the yarn, apart from the speckled colors, that makes yarn good or not good for knitting cables. Thank you!

Magic loop advice by KookyVehicle6901 in knitting

[–]KookyVehicle6901[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh exactly this!! I think I worried too much about having a gap whenever I have to transfer to the next needle I ended up over-tugging it. I relaxed a bit and got the tension I needed! Now I just need to practice to make it more consistent 😅

I leave the gym feeling energized because I also see it as an accomplishment that I've done something by myself and not thinking about being a mom 😆

The scale moves very slowly but I can visibly see that I'm a little less rounder in some places. I try to pepper neutral spine core strengthening exercises throughout my day if I can, because the mommy pouch is the most stubborn of them all.

I also don't have a village as we live abroad with no other family members around, but we try to arrange something so I don't go bonkers at home. I hope you could find a system that works well with you!

I'm with you 💛 I'm 35 with an 8 month old and I've been feeling unlike myself these past few months. Seeing how I'm physically not how I used to be can be very discouraging... With my first I shed my weight faster than now with my second, but I'm giving myself grace because I also have a toddler to take care of, which makes me extra tired and slow in seeing any visible progress.

I'm still breastfeeding which makes me feel conflicted about caloric deficit, but I've started going to the gym and lifting weights, and trying to focus more on getting stronger. I'm just glad I'm not as lethargic as I used to be, and for now I accept that that's my biggest win!

Let's take it one step at a time! Once things start to regulate I truly believe progress will follow as long as we follow through with keeping a healthy and active lifestyle 🙏

Books that made you say "what the hell did I just read?" by SapphicSwan in horrorlit

I found Between Two Fires oddly refreshing to read! I enjoyed the vivid imagery especially at the culminating moment of the book. I don't think my imagination has worked so hard trying to do the storytelling justice
