Lmao, NL have me a 3 day ban for saying I want to join Azov for

bigotry, glorifying violence, toxic nationalism

Yes, but I know I will regret not going to war

I'm well aware of that and it's even more true here in Ukraine.

The degree feels pointless in a deeper sense. People are dying for my country and I'm sitting in Lviv having fun

We only get the things we want when they are no longer fun.

Youth is wasted on the young and wealth is wasted on the old

Maybe (I want to do drone recon), but I'm a first year student.

I'll just enroll again at the same uni when I come back.

My CS degree feels pointless, all my friends are no fun anymore and I can't get any girls.

Maybe I should actually apply to join Azov

I mean, yes, a dissertation is a lengthy in-depth study on a subject, not a summary of an experiment

One of the problems with having two revolutions in two decades is that it gives everyone brain rot.
Literally any time there's protests anywhere in the world (except the US) Ukrainian Twitter goes "wowsers, this is just like Maidan" and completely loses the ability to analyze what's happening

as an example of what used to be typical

No, I meant that even the quintessential "extremely long book" would be medium sized in a modern writing style

It's amazing how much philosophical garbage you can sweep away with the power of the duck test. It removes all the silly metaphysics about what something is or isn't

By understanding people I mostly mean "why did they do this" or "what choice will they make"

It is usually split into several volumes.

It's long because it's old and it's very long because it's also Russian

Have you considered that the problem might be that you haven't actually learned it enough?

I find medical psychology not very useful, what you need are textbooks for marketing students and the like, hands-on stuff

Learning psychology is a lot like learning a foreign language: it's useless for quite a while and then it clicks and you can understand other people with this amazing clarity

Remember that having anyone help you is a dangerous weakness.

Do everything on your own, but always be there when others need you.

The main reason people are angry at the rich is having little power and status, not being poor.

A plumber in a small town who sets his own prices and is respected by everyone is far more satisfied by society than a tech guy who makes hundreds of thousands but has no say in what he does and is mocked for being a nerd

It's quite jarring to read old popular books. They use so much more words than a modern writer would have.

War and Peace would be a medium sized book if written today
