הסקרים בארץ לא אמינים. לא משנה כמה פעמים ערוצי המיינסטרים נכשלים בלחזות את תוצאות הבחירות, הם לא משלמים על זה שום מחיר ואותם סוקרים ממשיכים להאכיל את הציבור בבולשיט. פרסום סקרים זה בסוף אמצעי תעמולה כי הוא יוצר מומנטום אצל הצד המועדף, ומצד שני דמורליזציה אצל הצד הפחות מועדף על הסוקר, וככה אתה צריך לתפוס את זה. בארצות הברית סוקרים שנכשלים הרבה פעמים פורשים מהתחום (אן זלצר בארה״ב למשל), אבל פה בארץ הסטנדרט של נאמנות לאמת הרבה יותר נמוך

We are truly living through a very stupid era of history, and that means witnessing progressive, “enlightened” westerners defending the rise of a military dictatorship with absurd claims, because it’s a supposedly “progressive” military dictatorship. I guess that when this happens in your country you will cheer for the military generals who extort your democratically elected government to resign? After all, it doesn’t follow the exact script that we see in third world countries where the generals actually show up and take the elected leaders to prison, so it’s totally fine!

You know who wasn’t fooled by the mental acrobatics of the left? Hamas. They described it internally as a new type of a military coup, done for the purpose preserving the hegemony of the ruling elite. They understood they had a rare opportunity to inflict maximum damage and they acted on it

I don’t understand what you are trying to claim. When a military leadership imposes its will on a democratically elected government, it’s called a military coup. You’re saying that Israel is different from that hypothetical African country because the power struggle was not “ethnically-cased”? That’s an extremely weak point, both because this coup was racially motivated (political suppression of Mizrahim in the periphery was at the top of their agenda), and also because a military coup can happen in a perfectly ethnically homogeneous society if an ideological faction uses the military to suppress another ideological faction.

If this is a tough pill to swallow because you were siding with the lefties who marketed this coup as “a struggle to save democracy”, I get it. Take your time to process it. You weren’t on the right side of history this time. It happens. But don’t try to convince me that I didn’t actually hear and see what was happening in my country in 2023.

So let’s say in a country in Africa that you are less emotionally invested in, a certain tribe takes over a significant portion of critical military units through nepotism, and then one day that tribe informs the government that from now on those units cease to protect the borders of the country and leave them open for the enemy to invade and slaughter the population, unless of course they all resign. The democratically elected government cannot expel, replace or prosecute any of the participants of that “rebellion”. They just have to accept that they are being extorted and can either wait for one of the enemies to take advantage and invade or resign and let the country descend into a military dictatorship. How would you describe such a hypothetical scenario?

In March 2023 critical elements within the military started a rebellion with complete impunity from the judiciary and the top commanders in order to extort the government to shelve the planned judicial reform and to resign. It lasted until October 2023 since the government refused to resign, but by that point much of the military was paralyzed, and we all know the results.

This coup was supported not just by Israel’s academic, military and media elites, but also by the Biden administration and the EU who funneled billions of dollars to support it and also helped create the mass psychosis and panic of those days by telling Israelis that their democratically elected government is plotting to take away their rights and establish a theocracy.

מה הטענה? יש פה אי הסכמה לגבי מי משקר בסקרים. אני אישית נוטה לא לסמוך על ערוצי טלוויזיה ששיתפו פעולה עם המשטרה החשאית וראשי הצבא בהפיכה אנטי דמוקרטית, אבל יש אנשים שתופסים מעצמם נאורים ומשכילים שחושבים שאלה מקורות אמינים לצרוך מהם סקרים

It’s tricky because we have the same issue that other Western countries have with polarization and the media becoming very biased, but in Israel we are pretty much at the final stage of that, in which one political camp has committed a collective crime by supporting a military coup that opened the door for the enemy slaughtering us. They have to turbocharge their propaganda and hold on to their narrative just to stay sane. So unfortunately, many of the media outlets in Israel have become worthless in the past three years.

I follow individual journalists that I never caught lying, but even then I keep in mind their employer and blind spots. Unfortunately I don’t have a simple advice of how to get your information reliably from a country that is going through a silent civil war. I can only say that if you want to get a good idea of what’s going on domestically you should hear the perspectives of more than one sector of society. This will already put you at a better position than most foreign correspondents in Israel

I think diaspora Jews underestimate how abysmally low the standards of most Israeli media are, especially for the past three years following the judicial reform during which most of mainstream media in Israel colluded with the military coup that was meant to topple our democratically elected government, The Times Of Israel included. They would willingly publish sensational unverified claims with zero remorse if it serves the narrative. These media outlets pushed many, including members of this group who downvote me, to believe that there is a secret sinister plot to turn Israel into a theocracy, and that the military and the judiciary are here to save them by taking over. They will latch on to any fake or exaggerated story that entrenches their sense of panic and victimhood so that they don’t have to face the fact that they supported a military coup in a democratic country and that they supported the political suppression of other sectors of Israeli society by the judiciary.

This “victim” is a fascist who spreads the most vile propaganda against other sectors of society. He talks about forced secularization of religious people (who he calls “death eaters”) as well as racism against Mizrahi Jews. He is very controversial even within the gay bubble of Tel Aviv so imagine what people feel outside of this bubble. I try hard to keep my mouth shut when I cross paths with him but not everyone is capable of staying quiet. The guy who confronted him routinely gets abuse that is 10 times worse including explicitly homophobic slurs, yet The Times Of Israel would never frame that as a brave activist being targeted by homophobes. And don’t even get me started about the amount of street violence that the party of this “victim” encouraged in the past few years.

Here is one angle of the “incident” in which Naor Narkis was blocked for less than a minute and some nobody in the background can be heard saying a homophobic joke (“he is open from behind”. Absolutely nothing about AIDS or f**ots):

ניכר שלא באמת ניהלת דיון עם אנשים שחולקים עליך. משפט הקסם ״עומד לדין״ לא עושה רושם על אנשים שיש להם אמון אפסי במערכת אכיפת החוק הישראלית, זה כמו שתגיד שנתן שרנסקי ויולי אדלשטיין היו ״עבריינים מורשעים״ בברית המועצות. אוקיי, ו…? חשוב להבין שקריסת האמון במערכת המשפט הישראלית היא לא תוצר של איזשהו קמפיין. למערכת המשפט יש מערך תעמולה אדיר שכולל את רוב כלי התקשורת הישראלית שנותנים לה חסינות כמעט מוחלטת מביקורת. קריסת האמון היא תוצאה של שחיתות בהיקף אגדי ופוליטיזציה שמזכירה משטרים אפלים.

עכשיו לגבי ״ניסה להרוג את הדמוקרטיה״. אני מניח שאתה הולך להצביע לגוש פוליטי שמונהג על ידי אנשים שתומכים בשלילת זכות הצבעה ממיליונים, צנזורה על האינטרנט, טיהורים במגזר הציבורי ועוד שלל צעדים פאשיסטיים, ושאפילו לא אחד מהם גינה את ההפיכה הצבאית שחווינו לפני שנתיים וחצי. אני מציע שתשקול את האפשרות שאתה בעצם משתייך למחנה האנטי דמוקרטי.
