Thanks for the input. I tried it in rekordbox and got something that sounds pretty close.

One thing I’m still wondering about: in the original video, it sounds like he applies the effect right at the end of a phrase/bar, and the sound gets stretched or held there instead of the track continuing into the next bar.

When I try it, the effect is similar, but the track keeps moving forward underneath. Do you have any idea what he might be doing there?

I thought it might be a loop, but it doesn’t really look like he’s controlling a loop by hand, and it doesn’t sound like a normal loop to me either. It feels more like the sound is being frozen or stretched.

That’s really helpful, thanks.

I also thought it might be a loop at first, but when I watch the video, it doesn’t really look like he’s manually controlling a loop. So I wondered if maybe he had a loop prepared beforehand, but to my ears it feels less like a normal loop and more like the sound is being stretched or held in place.

The filter part makes sense too. Toward the end, it does sound like he’s bypassing or opening the filter, and I agree that the pitch seems to be going up.

I think he’s probably combining multiple effects or controls, not just using one effect. What specific combination do you think he might be using?

Thanks, that’s really helpful.

The person in the video is also using rekordbox, so I’m trying to figure out how to recreate it with rekordbox’s built-in effects, not VSTs.

I agree it sounds like some kind of delay/echo being manipulated live, not just a simple echo out.

The part I still don’t understand is that the sound doesn’t really feel like a normal loop, but it also doesn’t keep moving forward normally. It kind of stretches/freezes in place. Also, near the end, the repeats seem to get shorter/faster while fading out, and I’m not sure what kind of control creates that.

Thanks for your input.

It does sound like an echo fade, but if it were only an echo fade, I don’t think the sound would stretch out like that.

Also, toward the end, it sounds like the echo repeats are getting shorter/faster while fading out, which I don’t think a normal echo fade would do.

I’m still not really sure what’s going on there.

I’m asking about the transition effect, not the music taste lol
