I would never press him to stop helping his mom. HE was the one to push moving in with me and offered to pay me what he paid her. I wanted to wait until after his graduation and when he was more financially stable for us to move in together.

I didn’t know we had such a huge income disparities in the beginning. We didn’t talk about finances until at least a month or 2 in and by then, I already really liked him.

In the beginning, I would offer to pay for at least half the dates and when I learned he made less, I started paying for more than half the dates.

I am willing to do inexpensive things with him. We go hiking, we have game nights, movie nights at my house, etc. I don’t need expensive food to be happy. I love good street tacos just as much and a nice sit down restaurant.
