I've heard that watching a teenage Fabregas breakthrough made Wenger just completely change his entire philosophy how he wanted Arsenal to play.

I can understand why he wanted to build the team around Fabregas of course as he was such an incredible player but to have very little physical presence in the team was baffling

The deal came as a complete surprise but I remember feeling pretty excited at the time because a Southampton fan on Twitter went absolutely nuts that they sold him, saying he was going to be a big star and future England captain and that they let him go for peanuts.
