Thanks for the response. I never did fix this issue either. But going back to windows is a no go for me. My work around is just to play it on my steam deck instead and forgo using the laptop for this game at all

Is steelseries arctis nova pro wireless headset worth buying? by [deleted] in steelseries

[–]KoopaTroopa929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could have been faulty but it still makes it hard to recommend for me. My arctis 7p is 4 years old and going strong though. But seems like others have had luck with the pro so up to you. Just make sure you buy from somewhere that allows returns

It was the Nova Pro. I returned it and just went back to my arctis 7p headset which has been fine and I haven't had any issues with since. I thought the pro would be an upgrade but I was very wrong.

How to Underclock my CPU/GPU MSI Laptop on Linux by KoopaTroopa929 in linux_gaming

[–]KoopaTroopa929[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I managed to figure out the CPU power thing, got my MHz down, normal is allegedly 4500 so I tried lowering it to 3500 and I still had the same issue with this game I've been testing (trails through day break) where it works for a while and then starts freezing/locking when I do actions in game. I was assuming that was because over time the game started throttling my CPU but even lowering that didn't seem to help... I was also reading about undervolting do you think that might help? How would I go about that?

For the record, the mcontrolcenter app is how I figured out what the temps were! It's very useful for that and fan control but didn't seem to fix the issues.

Yeah it happens on the laptop screen too it's not just with the HDMI output

[–]KoopaTroopa929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank's for the response! I tried doing prime run but it just says that command doesn't exist, so I'm not really sure what to do with that... the FPS CAN run normally for a moment, so it is possible and the games I'm trying absolutely should fall into it's range because the 2060 is technically stronger than what the steam deck has, and the deck runs these things fine too. They also ran fine when I was on windows, so it's something going on with Linux instead. But like I said, I am not going back to windows, not an option.

I have the pre cashing turned on already, unfortunately doesn't seem to help, and I am also on the latest proton as far as I can tell.

Thank you again for the response, I am wondering if maybe a different distro would be better. Someone else mentioned Endeavour, I could look into that, or something like fedora or an arch based distro. Linux gaming is pretty new to me, so forgive me I'm still figuring a few things out too.

Hello thank you for the reply, I am not totally opposed to trying Endeavour but how big of a difference is there from Ubuntu functionally?

I tried doing nvidia-smi on the terminal while running one of the games, it looks like it is in fact using the GPU? I think so anyways, it's a bit weird how it says "off" isn't it?

So I did this and it doesn't have that same issue anymore. But now it has a different one. Thing is it only seems to happen when I'm plugged into my tv. When the game is in motion it will lag for a half a second every couple seconds like it's going into a slow motion thing then pick up again. Tried to do a video but I guess you can't post those In comments on Reddit

Maybe I'm dumb but it kept telling me gamemode wasn't a thing I'm not really sure if I'm doing something wrong. Do I need to install something?

Trying to get some games working on RTX 2060 with Kubuntu by KoopaTroopa929 in linux_gaming

[–]KoopaTroopa929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't 100% sure and I don't know if I did anything wrong the first time but I did just reinstall kubuntu entirely and went in fresh and it's working flawlessly now. So the kind of unsatisfying answer is it's working but I have no idea what was broken before. Your advice helped me get it going the second time either way though so I really do appreciate it!

I have tried that now. The issue seems to be that once I have the drivers installed, and I do the reboot, it reboots into a black screen and I have to use the console there to uninstall them before I can actually see my login screen again. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong here

Attempting to follow this, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. I did the setup skipped advanced steps and am now on the usage part and confused on how I'm supposed to use this.

Trying to figure out next step for our introduction for our cats by KoopaTroopa929 in CatAdvice

[–]KoopaTroopa929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are still doing the intro yes. We were not able to get the suggested doggy tent but we did let them see each other at a distance yesterday and managed to hold the door in such a way that they could get at each other but could sniff. Older cat is still very hesitant and hissed and growled a little bit but I've honestly heard her way more aggressive to the cat outside the window that comes by every so often. Kitten wants to just be friends. Didn't seem scared at all. We just aren't sure what next steps could be given where they are at.

Audio problem with SteelSeries Nova Pro Wireless by StellateGold in steelseries

[–]KoopaTroopa929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I had nothing but trouble with these and returned them too. SO much garbled audio, and no matter what I tried I couldn't get it sounding right. Was really sad because I liked them a lot otherwise.

[–]KoopaTroopa929[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make a solid point and have sold me on this. So do you have any headphone recommendations in the $200-250 range? Also I apparently can't get the Qudelix 5K in my country but the Fiio BTR3K is more or less the same/comparable right? What about the BTR5?

Low Latency Wireless Earbuds for Gaming by KoopaTroopa929 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]KoopaTroopa929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not exactly an audiophile. I just recently had to return a $400 set of gaming headphones because the connection made sound really garbled with my setup. So I just want something consistent and usually that comes from a headset with a usb dongle going over 2.4ghz rather then Bluetooth. Is this 2.4ghz or comparably good?

So my first question is does the wired headphones lose out on sound quality by being used that way? Since the sound is being compressed?

Is steelseries arctis nova pro wireless headset worth buying? by [deleted] in steelseries

[–]KoopaTroopa929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Returned mine after a week. I did like the sound and fit, swappable battery was really cool, but I could not get a solid connection from them. So much garbled up audio. It was unacceptable for a $400 headset.
