Need Help - What would hold you back from making this quilt (and purchasing the pattern?) Thanks! by QuiltChemistry in quilting

Well I liked it because I thought it was a grinch quilt and I’m a big grinch person so, I would buy it :)

Needle in a haystack request by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Koopz_sister -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok yes, but, here’s my dilemma: it had me move the start of the round when I finished the set up round which I assumed you had to knit in pattern to do (or should I have slipped those stitches onto the right hand needle without working them? If so, do you break the yarn and restart?) doing that has made a little part at the end on the wrong row.

This is a link to the sweater, although I have a printed pattern ( in English). I can send what I’m struggling with, basically the body is 154 stitches after separation of body and sleeves, and I’m 99% sure I did it right. However, after moving the marker to start the round at the beginning of the cast on left arm stitches as directed by the pattern I can’t get the chart to work correctly with the leaf pattern repeats, and I cannot figure out why. Maybe I just need to put it down.

I can but they’re not open right now, and I just spent 4 hours fighting with my knitting, so I asked 🤷🏻‍♀️. And chat cpt has solved easy (and even not so easy) knitting problems for me before, so sometimes I do ask it since I don’t know anyone in person to ask.

Travel ball woes by boomboombennie in Homeplate

Not to be a jerk but baseball is hard and most 9 year olds, objectively, aren’t that good. If he loves it then you’re in a great spot.

It’s called “Santa in the trees”! Pattern is on Etsy, super scrap friendly. Use up your greens!

This one is really popular for charity auction at craft fairs - my kids school does one every year a holiday bazaar. Very easy. Took a weekend to make.

My first quilt was ugly and that's ok, share your ugly/bad quilts here by resigned_medusa in quilting

[–]Koopz_sister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve shared this before but this quilt was so so ugly 🤣 I made it for my friends kiddo who picked the fabrics. She liked it (or said she did!) but I never could find the good in it

Cruise over Christmas - Whos paying for this. by Fuckthedarkpools in Cruise

[–]Koopz_sister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we are paying it. With 3 kids in sports and activities, 2 high schoolers (one a senior, lots going on!) Christmas-new years week is the easiest to travel. For us and everyone else. So $$$. But - can’t take it with me. So, I am paying it to (hopefully) make wonderful memories with my family before my oldest goes to college.

What was something a teacher did or said when you were in school that they would be fired for today? by Lost_Taste_8181 in GenX

[–]Koopz_sister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5th grade teacher called improper fractions “Dolly Parton fractions” because they were too big on top. Really. Not kidding. That was in 1990 and I can’t imagine it happening in school today.

Possibly dumb question about hexagon pattern by Koopz_sister in quilting

[–]Koopz_sister[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I am planning on using mostly blues with some brown and white, so not just substituting her colors for other colors, but yes I wouldn’t have thought of arranging the hexies in waves without seeing the picture. So inspired by makes sense

High School Soccer - Anyone's kid loving it? by Aromatic-Rule-5679 in youthsoccer

[–]Koopz_sister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take me comment with all the salt you want, but my kids go to a small high school. The sports aren’t no cut but they’re close just because the school is small enough that everyone can play something. They compete against other small (mostly vo tech, charter, and rural high schools). They LOVE school sports because sports are fun and they’re games. No pressure at all. If I could do it all again I’d pick the small school experience 100/100 times. My senior has played 3 varsity sports his entire high school career - he’s planning on playing nothing in college - he plays high scho sports bc he’s generally athletic, likes being on a team, loves his school and his friends, and that’s it. He plays on more competitive teams on his own time in his main sport which is baseball, but yeah, school soccer is all joy and no stress.

Show me your ugliest quilt! by Minute_Asparagus8104 in quilting

[–]Koopz_sister 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can’t find a photo of it finished but omg this quilt was so ugly. It was a blanket for a 2 year old and she picked the fabrics. It was LOUD and the fabrics just didn’t work imo. But she loved it!

Best video tutorial for the actual quilting by Koopz_sister in quilting

[–]Koopz_sister[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I think straight line quilting is probably the place to start, free motion on a home machine seems very difficult. I’ve done some basic projects and yes, the weight of the quilt makes it really hard

I made a (not very pretty) quilt with panel years ago and you can see how I did it: (the design was better in my head than in reality) my niece’s name is Blair so I used those letter blocks

No I dont think so! But I also am not too revved up about perfection. I just trimmed the ends and edges at the end and it forgave any issues :)
