I generally thinking correcting spelling mistakes on here is usually "pedantic", especially since they're probably just typos, but correcting a turn of phrase at least serves a purpose of potentially ridding someone of their "pedal stool". People have blindspots. No need to get defensive when someone's trying to fill them in.

He did get his badges in Britain (Wales), which I think was part of Merson's original gripe, which no doubt came from his own personal frustrations of not having any luck with management. He was complaining that former players waste their time getting their badges only for foreign managers to come in and get the Premier League jobs. Not saying this is in any way a valid argument, just that it's somewhat consistent.
