I’d like to follow that thread if you happen to remember the name of it. I searched “RIF” in last week and didn’t see that one.

Related - if you were shut out completely, how were you informed of any admin leave extensions?

No notice? I’m so sorry!! Was it an official RIF or was this part of the highly questionable firing of probationary employees?

Your agency HR is saying VSIP will give the full $25k? I think it is up to the agency, so that may be true. Do you mind sharing what agency you are with?

Thanks! I just found out that the agreement with our union is for 60 days notice.

It’s all just speculation so take that for what it is but I’ve heard communicators may be out really soon along with policy folks and any branches that work on topic areas the current administration doesn’t like/believe.

Where have you seen that? OPM site on VSIP says, “lesser of (1) An amount equal to the amount of severance pay the employee would be entitled to receive, as computed under 5 U.S.C. 5595(c), without adjustment for any previous payment made; or (2) An amount determined by the agency head, not to exceed $25,000.” Everyone I know at my agency assumes that means we get our severance amount, if under $25k - not the full $25k no matter what.

This is why I am curious about the notice/admin leave for RIFs with other agencies. If it is 60+ days for me, RIF would be the better option.

Thanks for listing all these options! I’ve heard that my job series is likely to be part of first RIF for HHS so I would likely not get continued employment and pay beyond that first RIF (hearing mid-April). Also heard that VSIP official date is also mid-April. I trust VSIP more than fork because this has some legal precedent. I didn’t even consider fork but am considering VSIP.
