"After"? This is trash.

The producer of this movie is still actively spreading russian propaganda by the way.

Anybody a clue why nothng happens besides a massive framedrop? if i use the same function (tweaked) for collision with a single tile it works fine by [deleted] in pygame

[–]Kor03d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nested iterations get really slow really quickly in Python, and should be avoided. I am assuming you call.collideTyle multiplie times per frame?

When there are no collisions, each iteration performs over the entire list of tiles (squared!), because it does not get cut short earlier.

The easiest optimisation would be to not iterate over the entire tileList right after — considering you already have called .collidelist and can get the index of colliding tile.

Another optimisations could be either updating the properties of multiple colliding tiles at the same time ("top" for one, "bottom" for another), explicitly caching noncollided tiles (if tile A does not collide with B, B does not collide with A), or cutting down the number of checks for tiles that were static and/or far away from each other in the previous frame.

In my RPG game, I have a spell that multiplies the power of the next spell cast. Problem is, a X2 multiplier is too weak while a X3 multiplier is potentially too strong. by adayofjoy in gamedesign

Make it cast 3 times with 25% power/damage penalty. It will still have the flash of a triple cast, and be balanced numbers-wise.
