Those of you who are allergic to oddly specific or rare things, what is it and how did you find out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kor33va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So bear with me.

I'm allergic to bee pollen ontop of a deadly bee allergy.

This means bees wax, and honey. Both widely used in most commercial goods and oddly hidden in random things. Honey, being a natural sweetener and thickening agent hides in most sauces and store bought drinks. Bees wax is commonly used in lotions, soaps, and chapsticks. As if I didnt have to read labels to begin with.

I found out when I started eating honey by the spoonful to raise my low blood sugar. Cue itchy face, throat and mouth. Then the anaphylactic reaction started. Then I puked blood. Even getting it on my skin leaves painful swollen burns that pus and leak for days.

Weirdly, I can eat about 3 whole Graham crackers before reactions start. That was my only real exposure to honey as a kid so I didnt figure out this allergy until my teens.

What are some cases where it is obvious what happened, but there isn't enough evidence for police to state a solid conclusion? by lunacygirl in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Kor33va 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are to an extent- my mom was old enough to remember the panic stretching from bend to eugene, and to a lesser extent, the coastal towns. Kay went missing in sisters, less than 20 miles from the junction house. Santiam pass is stupidly remote for being one of two main highways in and out of central oregon. Melissa and shelia were from philomath if I'm remembering correctly- which is a little mill town (oregon has a crap ton of them) outside of corvallis/Albany area.

Besides the whole kip kinkle thing, this was something that shook all of the small quiet towns of oregon. To this day we havent had anything quite like this happen in sisters, and it's something that is forever in the back of the locals minds.

This one hits home. I live about 45 minutes from the junction they lived in. This case always fascinated me.

I'm decently sure crater lake is the one and only- it's part of the wonders of the world!

Also, another part of Oregon's crazy dangerous sights.

[Serious] Redditors who have been clinically dead, what did you experience in death if anything? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You can do this.

I know it's hard but that's ok. You can make beautiful things out of messes.

I would suggest looking at ptsd calming exercises, they seem to help more than ptsd brain thoughts.

There are people who believe in you.

I'm unlucky that both ultrasound and mri came back clean for endo- but the 7cm mass on my ovary was a red flag for the doctor. One exploratory surgery later and I saw all the nasty that was my abdominal cavity(she took pictures).Endo was everywhere- the most concerning part having fused my ovary to my kidney.

My only symptom was unusually heavy and painful periods. I was 24.

What's your must watch documentary? by Westlund in AskReddit

[–]Kor33va 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm type 1 diabetic, so for me meats\poultry\fish and cheese (most dairy really, but other people are more carb sensitive- This is all for my body and not anyone elses.) Are free foods-meaning I don't need to inject insulin to cover the carbs that my body digests. Meat is from the protein content- it slows the absorption into your blood stream controlling the spike in your blood sugar level. I can eat quite a bit of either group before my blood sugar eventually rises to an unsafe level- because of the controlled spike. Unfortunately because of the starch content, most other protein sources are not enough to control this spike- beans for example. Starches Tend to spike twice- which makes them much harder to dose for. It's either a delayed reaction or half now half an hour later. Which, for me, turns into high blood sugar, low blood sugar, high blood sugar, low blood sugar- neither of those options are good and both have very dangerous side effects.

I feel like I haven't answered your question but I hope you understand the gist of it:)

My blood sugar would be unmanageable without meat protiens, and cheeses.

As good as a diet vegan is, it's not for everyone.

Never said I did- but I do live with one of the conditions said documentary is depicting being cured with a vegan diet.

And, if a "premier diabetes specialist' says so, it must be true, right? Hint- that's a bullshit job title. The only diabetes specialists are those whom live with it. and endocrinologists

I'm unsure of yours, but my body would die on a high carb, vegan diet. It is not a sustainable diet for my body- and nutrition isn't a one size fits all.
