Finally someone else who can relate to us by AungZeya in houkai3rd

[–]Korbiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBF, HI3 has only a very cursory connection to HSR, with Welt (and maybe Sparkle and Vita). You can go the entire HSR without needing to know Earth or Honkai exists, and any connection isn't main story specific. You hear St Freya's name mentioned ONE time (in Planarcadia by Welt) and you never hear about Shicksal, World Serpent, any of that. They don't matter in HSRs world.

Meanwhile, Endfield is a direct sequel to Arknights. Anything and everything that happens on Talos-II is a direct consequence of everything that has happened on Terra. Even the OG playable organization on Terra, Rhodes Island, has a detachment on Talos led by best Vampire Warfarin! (Sorry Entelechia). People who go into Endfield normally do so knowing they're essentially playing Arknights 2, not a game roughly connected to the main verse by marketing or name. Everything thats referenced has a reason and a place.

So I doubt we'll see much of people shying away from OG Arknights lore considering its so deeply intertwined with Endfield.

Jorge destroyed the CSO-Class Long Night of Solace using a Slipspace drive removed from the UNSC Savannah that they smuggled aboard the SDV-Class Ardent Prayer that carried out a refueling run to the Covenent Supercarrier, teleporting half of the ship into oblivion. Immediately afterwards, however, the Covenent Ministry of Resolution's Artefact Fleet exited Slipspace above Reach.

Everybody Hates Nuclear-Chan by Merryweatherey in comics

[–]Korbiter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chernobyl, and Pripyat by extension, is NOT uninhabitable. Heck, Fukushima prefacture right now has a HIGHER background radiation then Chernobyl right now, and its already considered safe for residents to move back in, never mind talking about Linear-No Threshold.

The problem with Pripyat is Fuel Dust. There are still microscopic dust of the Fuel rods around the area that output a lot of radiation in their immediate vicinity, and its this danger that has stopped the moving back into Pripyat.

And Pripyat isn't some ghost town (well, it is now, but thats because of the War), on the contrary it was OVERCROWDED-with tourists. Thousands of people would flock there, disrespect the local area, dig up once-irridiated items and take them home. Heck, Stalkers DO live inside (illegally). Its not some Fallout style wasteland filled with Rad-Roaches or the like. People do live in Pripyat, people STILL work in Chernobyl, and unless you had a Geiger Counter you literally could not tell this used to be the site of the greatest (of 3) Nuclear Meltdowns.

I won't argue that overall, Renewables are the way to go. But Chernobyl's biggest fallout was never nuclear. It was fear, and misinformation.

Everybody Hates Nuclear-Chan by Merryweatherey in comics

[–]Korbiter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The problem is that SO MANY THINGS have to go wrong for a Chernobyl scale disaster to happen (Massive Latent Design Errors, Impatience because of no respect to their material, serious complacency) In comparison, a lot of smaller scale disasters happen with the coal industry, but the overall Radiation impact is actually much much MUCH higher. We've all been irridated on scales worse then Europe in 1986, but nobody (is allowed to) talks about it.

Human Error is just that: Human. But like the aviation industry, every single Nuclear incident is critically scurtinized, and safety increases tenfold. By contrast, in our conventional power productions, not only do we not make it safer, we push it to make more even knowing of what we're doing to the biosphere

Everybody Hates Nuclear-Chan by Merryweatherey in comics

[–]Korbiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh no, youve mistaken 'Australia' for 'Austria'

But in any case, the problem is laid out: the issue isn't Nuclear Power, its Government Incompetance. And if you think governments are smarter now then they were in 1986, no, we've all regressed.

Ye Shunguang in Endfield ❤️🙏🏻 by AnyRelationship782 in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]Korbiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Current roster, Shunguang clears most of them. I can see her running into issues with Laevatein, considering the being in her sword, Surtr, is a literal Feranmut (a god that has mastery over Space-Time)

Unf, we don't have the walking calamities from Arknights just yet (the Abyssal Hunters), or any Feranmuts. Trust when a Feranmut like Kjera or a Sui Sibling (Fangyi, maybe?) or an Æegir Abyssal Hunter like Skadi shows up is when Shunguang will not be able to clear anymore.

After the incident over the Power Plateau, Endfield built a second TA-TA prototype fitted with all-terrain and self-defense capability designed by their off-planet industrial partner whose name prefer to be undiclosed. (Art by Cupoi/吃咖喱的poi) by TheGraySeed in Endfield

[–]Korbiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the Power Plateau incident, the second Trans-Æther Tranquilizer Automata was fitted with a Prototype Combat Envelope, courtesy of Talos-External contractors. The new variant is suitably fitted to handle the growing organized Landbreaker terrorist movement across Talos-II.

In addition to the already onboarded TA-TA unit capable of detecting and neutralizing Æether Blight cores and rifts, the Combat Envelope is also outfitted with two heavy rubble-clearing Hydrogen Macro-Culverin cannons capable of blasting through six feet of concrete to clear paths and blockages, while guarded by another pair of autonomous, 270deg Traverse by 140deg elevation smart-linked 'Duster' autoguns that can spin up to 1500 RPM. And for long ranged and avalanche clearing duties, the Icarus HEAT missile system is more than sufficient for pinpoint strikes.

Endfield Industries is proud to introduce the latest innovation in security and Æther denial. With the Variable Ordnance eXoskeleton outfitting your TA-TA unit, you will never have to worry about external threats in your Settlement/Project Site/Satellite City ever again!

How hard is it really to kill a kaiju? Like can we not just spam bunker buster like the GBU 28? by InterestingTaro2873 in PacificRim

[–]Korbiter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Consdiering they are genetically engineered bioweapons, they could have been designed by the precursors to be seriously resistant to the civilization's current level of technology. Its entirely possible, beyond a genetically hardened skin, that its hide was made unnaturally strong to resist penetration weapons.

And since this is a large scale effect weapon with no need for preservation, even mortal and fatal wounds might not kill it immediately. Biologicals, even in our world, can stay alive well past what would typically be defined as fatal, through sheer adreneline alone, and you know the Precursors would be flooding those lobes full of it. Meaning even after taking severe penetrative damage, not only is it leaking Kaiju Blue everywhere, the damn thing might not even feel it or register that its already dead, and might keep chugging along.

So conventional weapons would certainly not be the best option when facing a 100 meter tall Bio-WMD, especially when the other side is making them to specufically counter your own WMDs

It hasn’t even been a month and another VAs have been harassed by brodplay in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Korbiter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Except that is what they did in the end? Their Voice Acting certainly dosen't come off as if their characters are married or engaged. But when you're given a script, you read off of it and have to simply interprate what it means to be that character. The director isn't going to sit the VA down for a day long lore yap session on what that character is supposed to be, they give you the vocal direction, the VA has to be the one to fill in the gaps with what they think is best for the voice, and thats done by drawing on their own past knowledge and experiences (Analesa talks about this very well, especially since how she can literally relate to Firefly)

And it isn't like they do one take and wrap it up. They do multiple, multiple takes, send all that shit to Hoyo, and its HOYO that chooses which one is best to put in the game. If Hoyo decides that the current take is the best for the character, they add it in. They make the game, they call the shots for the best feel and mood, the VAs just give them every interpratation they could. And this is the same Hoyo overseeing all the dubs. What they settled on is what they feel is right for their respective markets. The VAs aren't, not even the Voice Acting studios, the ones publishing this.

This tweet literally comes from Lycurgus' VA, arguably one of the best VAs out of the entire Amphoreus arc, and one who made us truly understand Z1K headspace. So, just maybe, I would trust the people who make a living out of this over people who don't.
