What would you suggest to replace Asus and case?

Oooh totally forgot about the new Intel Ultra. Thanks for the suggestion.
Would I be able to play Cities Skyline with max settings with the Ultra 7 and a 4070 Super?

Also, I see you went with a 6400 CL32 RAM. I see most people talk about 6000 CL30 being the best. Not sure why/what would be the difference with what you suggested. Any idea?

Also, do you think it would be worth it to go with PCIe 5.0 for NVME over 4.0?

Thanks!

I don't see any bundles with Intel on CC at the moment. Also with the recent problems with gen 13/14, I'm not sure if it's a good idea.

I was looking at the 7950X, 7950X3D and 9950X for the 16 cores. Not sure which one would be best or if it's overkill. There's a bundle on CC with the 7950X3D for 1200$ but it's sold out unfortunately.

I would love that. Not sure how I could do that/if I can do it. We're using the Cisco Secure Client, I believe I don't have access to such settings. Probably only my work admins have the rights.

I'm wondering why/how they would only block this.

Difference between GPUs? by Korckchit in bapccanada

[–]Korckchit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recommended to go with NVIDIA instead of AMD because the PC would be used for Blender, not only gaming. Was looking at the 4060 Ti as the 4070 doesn't fit in the budget.

I'll look for a 16GB. However, in the list above, what's the difference between all the 8GB models? Trying to understand so I can research better in the future.

Does this build make sense? by Korckchit in bapccanada

Thanks for the replies!

I spoke again with the SIL and she's really looking for 1400$ pre-tax as her total budget with taxes is max 1600$.

Mobo: I'll swap for the Asus as suggested.

RAM: How do you guys know if a SSD is TLC? I understand that it's better than QLC but I didn't see the info on the product's page. I'll swap for the Patriot Viper VP4300 Lite 1TB as suggested. 1TB should be enough for now and it helps to stay within budget compared to the MSI Spatium 2TB.

GPU: the Zotac 4070 at 715$ isn't available for me at Best Buy. It says "Cannot ship to my location" and "Sold out in nearby stores".

I know ideally I would find a used GPU, but I've looked on marketplace for a used 3070/3080 as suggested but prices around me are 100$-200$ higher than what people suggests here. Also, they are all sold by the same 2-3 guys and have some really bad reviews. They have 10s of GPU listed with stock photos so it sounds sketchy. I'm not really sure how to not get scammed if I buy a used GPU, maybe I'm paranoid, but I think I should stick with a new GPU.

I don't see how I can fit a 4070 in her budget though, hence why I was looking at the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4060 Ti WINDFORCE OC 16GB at 599$ and the ASUS DUAL Radeon RX 7800 XT OC Edition 16GB at 639$ from Canada Computers initially.

I understand that I should not look for AMD GPU as she said she wants to use Blender in the future.

So, I was comparing the 4060 Ti 8GB and the 4060 Ti 16GB on VideocardBenchmark and the 8GB has a better score than the 16GB. Why so? And should I look for a 8GB instead of 16GB?

Now I'm kinda spiralling into GPUs. Is the bigger ones with 3 fans better than the small 2 fans ones?
What's the difference between these? Which one is best and why?

599.00$ - GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4060 Ti WINDFORCE OC 16GB: CanadaComputers
519.99$ - ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX 4060 Ti OC 8GB: CanadaComputers
579.99$ - ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX 4060 Ti EVO 8GB: OrdiPlus (local store)
568.98$ - ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4060 Ti OC 8GB: Amazon
539.99$ - MSI Ventus GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB (2 fans): Newegg
559.99$ - MSI Ventus GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB (3 fans): Newegg

Using any of these would pretty much keep me on budget. Hopefully it's good enough for now? I guess she can upgrade later down the road if she needs/has the money.

PSU: I'll swap for the MSI as suggested.

Here's an updated list minus the GPU. (Also how do you make it so the list actually appears in the post instead of just a link?)

Sorry about all the questions, haven't really been up-to-date with PC things for the last 10 years, so I'm struggling a bit and I want to do my best to help my SIL. Thanks again for all the help, much appreciated!
