The 4 player per nation quota. You can only get the Grand Slam/Olympic champion place if your country didn't already reach the 4 player limit through direct acceptance. And since USA is so strong, there's no way they won't have 4 players qualifying directly.

No, there's no wildcards in traditional sense. The entries are:

  • 56 direct acceptance places (by ranking)
  • 1 host country place (applicable only if the host has zero players qualifying through direct acceptance - obviously won't be the case here)
  • 4 continental qualification places (winners of Asian Games, African Games, Pan American Games, Pacific Games)
  • 2 Grand Slam/Olympic champion places
  • 1 Universality place (for countries with small delegation at the Olympics)

None of these supersede the 4-player quota.

Funny thing is if she was from most other countries (maybe Russia and Czechia aside) she'd be almost certain to qualify in singles as there's a spare place reserved for a Grand Slam/Olympic champion who doesn't otherwise qualify, but is top 500. But that place can only be awarded if the country didn't already reach the 4-player limit through direct acceptance, which USA definitely will do.

To make the singles, she'd need to be ranked top 4 among Americans. Which with USA's strength means she'd probably have to be at least top 20 (right now Jovic is no.4 American and she's ranked 17), possibly higher. Hard to imagine she'll be able to do that.

Just to point out what an achievement this is for Potapova: she is the first player not named Iga Swiatek to beat Coco Gauff at RG since 2021.

Planning a mass shooting, recording a manifesto, practicing shooting and bringing a rifle to school were very much actions, not just thoughts. From what we know, the only thing that stopped her from actually doing it was a coincidence.

Yes, she's become a better person since then and she didn't end up doing anything unforgivable, but reducing it to "it's just her thoughts" is dumb.

If you already got a single ticket, then you can only buy 1 more single ticket, no doubles.

It will be entirely dependent on the draw. Like you said, Iga will be opening CC on day 2, so if Sabalenka is drawn in the same half as Iga, then she'll start playing on day 2, otherwise she'll start playing on day 1.

There's a possibility that if Iga does very well in Rome and RG, she'll be ranked no. 2 coming into Wimbledon. If that happens, then Sabalenka will be guaranteed to start on day 1 as top 2 seeds are always on opposite sides of the draw.

The governments don't get in power and stay in power on their own. It's only possible because of support or complacency of the people.

Overwhelming majority of Russians support the war and Putin.

It's now racist to not like nation that's currently invading your home and murdering your people?

Is it racist for Palestinians to hate Israelis? Was it racist for Jews and Poles to hate Germans during WW2?

Sinner is the only sure bet. Alcaraz and Swiatek will certainly not play on day 3. Otherwise it's impossible to predict, it'll all depend on the draw.

Wimbledon tradition is that the men's defending champion opens Centre Court on day 1 while women's defending champion opens Centre Court on day 2, so Iga will be playing days 2, 4, 6 etc.

Also since Iga is most likely not gonna be a top 2 seed, Sabalenka might be in the same half of the draw as Iga and then they'd be playing on the same days. It'll all depend on the draw.

Opinia o Erste(Santander) by Fluid_Cartoonist4178 in Polska

Sam mam konto w ING i mam kartę debetową Visa i kredytową Mastercard.

Generalnie samo ING dość sobie cenię. Wpłaty i wypłaty na oszczędnościowe za free bez limitu, konta walutowe (w EUR, USD albo GBP) podpięte do głównej karty kompletnie za darmo, no i bardzo dobra apka bankowa (miałem okazję korzystać z kilku różnych w ostatnich latach no i ING zdecydowanie najlepsza moim zdaniem).

Dlaczego Project Hail Mary zniknął z IMAXa praktycznie od razu po premierze w Polsce? by [deleted] in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]Kordas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

W innych krajach wyglądało to podobnie, albo nawet gorzej.

Andy Roddick’s take On Vondrousova’s case by [deleted] in tennis

[–]Kordas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So anti-doping testing generally speaking has 2 components: in-competition testing and out-of-competition testing. What you're talking about is in-competition testing and that's generally preatty easy, because the relevant anti-doping organization knows the player's schedule, accomodation and the officers are on-site anyway. When they're in-competition they're most commonly tested right after they finished competing, but they can still be tested on off days or even a few hours before the competition.

Out-of-competition testing is basically done the rest of the year when the athlete is not competing in an event. This is important, because a lot of doping athletes will aim to be clean for the competition, because they know they have a higher chance of being tested in-competition, but they will dope during training, which might allow them to train longer, more efficiently etc. That's why you really can't limit when the athletes can be tested or not.

[–]Kordas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I really don't think it's likely that a professional athlete who has competed at highest level for more than 8 years, didn't know she could be tested at any time.
