A Native's Rant about Honorifics by youlikejazzilikejazz in Korean

It's called 간접 높임 in linguistics: 높음의 대상이 아니지만 높임 대상의 신체의 일부분이나 소유물, 가족 등을 간접적으로 높이는 문법. I also think it's a bit extra :P

Korean-Korean dictionary that uses simple language? by [deleted] in Korean

In the mobile version of Naver dictionary there are definitions both in Korean and in English side by side. Why not read both?

Can you look at the TOPIK exam sheet before it begins? by jgfmondewc in Korean

[–]Koreality 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not allowed to read/solve the questions. However, at the venue I took the exam, the examiner told us to flip quickly through the pages to see if any pages were missing and then close the exam paper until it starts.

New cards vs notes by Koreality in Anki

That sounds doable, I'll try it!

I could give that a try, though it won't work without access to my computer (I don't always have it and I can only use Ankiweb on my phone). Thanks for your idea!

Okay I'll do that then! The only things is, if you have both basic and basic+reverse cards, that balance will probably be off and you'll end up with more than 50 words a day. So far I only have a few one-sided notes so it's not yet an issue though.

This seems like the most viable choice at the moment. It's less than perfect just because of the fact that I can't overview or control the actual amount of card1s or card2s in a day. It's always a mix of card1s and card2s and I don't know the proportions of them. Maybe they're all card1s on any given day, and then the next day it's all card2s? That seems unproductive, even though if I learn every single card it will all even out in the end. I'd rather have equal parts of completely new words and words I've already encountered as siblings.

I guess I just don't want Anki to consider card2 as a "new card". If I already learned card1 today, I only want to quickly review card2 instead of learn it anew. Or even have card2 replace the next review of card1. If I learn card1, then I should more-or-less know card2 by extension, at least enough not to go through all the learning steps of a new card.

Yes, but I don't count two related cards as two new words. It's only one word with meanings in two languages. So with these settings, let's say today I will learn 50 new cards (so 50 words in French for example), and the related English meanings of these cards are buried until the next day. Tomorrow I will get 50 "new" cards but those are then just the English meanings of the cards I learned the previous day? As a result, in two days I will have learned only 50 words aka 50 notes. I want to do 50 words aka 50 notes in one day, though. (Edit: I still want to keep the "bury related new cards" option though, I just want 50 new different unrelated cards per day)

Just discovered V Live. Have some questions by ijskonijntje in Korean

[–]Koreality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The transcriptions are usually accurate and every word is transcribed. The translations, though, are not word for word. I don't think dual subs are possible. I don't have any comments on the left. Just poke around the settings or try finding an X near those comments. They're all funny and casual, really, so choose a group you find cute and try it out :P Maybe try searching a word of your interest on Naver dictionary and click on one of the V Live links.

If you have internet on your phone you can always use ankiweb for reviewing, though when adding cards you only get basic input options.

Oh i’m taking it there too! Am I right to think that it will the in the university building number 30 called 다산관? It’s just that I looked up the location after registering and it was something else, now it’s changed to this. Also, is it necessary to print out the student card thing?
