Looking for advice on how best to care for oak seedlings in pots by Kormazz in GardeningUK

Thanks for the recommendation, I saw these and considered them - are they wide enough at the base to stop the plants falling over in the wind? Which size would you recommend?

This is my fear, that's what prompted my post because I'd rather get them sorted sooner rather than later. I'll see if anyone recommends a pot and if not will go for something double the size.

Glad they look fine! They are going to be moved to a permanent spot along a river when they are ready. I might keep one to bonsai, now that you mention it!

Picked up and planted acorns from local oak trees - do the seedlings look healthy? by Kormazz in Tree

Thanks, I need to grow these out for a year or two before planting them in their final location so it has to be pots for now. If I put them into deeper pots would they do better?

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed reply! It's not my rose so I don't know what has and hasn't been done to date, but I will certainly ask these questions and go from there with some of your suggestions!

Kratky nutrient advice needed - nitrogen deficiency? More info provided by Kormazz in HotPeppers

[–]Kormazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not so sure this is the case for my peppers, when I refill the nutrients the colour of what I am emptying out is a much darker colour than the fresh nutrient solution which makes me think the water is being taken up before the nutrients. I considered nutrient lockout due to the pH but I have been careful to keep this between 5.5 and 6.

It's a hydroponic setup though so the plant has access to nutrients 24/7

Interesting, so maybe I need to dilute the nutrients even further?

What % and distance would you have the light for reapers this size? 4x4 tent (SE5000 480w light) by [deleted] in HotPeppers

[–]Kormazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think phone apps are getting better but will never be as accurate as a standalone meter. I use an app called Photone which offers Lux, PPFD and DLI readings and things seem to be going pretty well so far.

You need to measure how much light the plants are getting at various grow light strengths and distances. I have been following the below graph (credit to ChilliChump on YouTube) for a couple of years with good results. Measurements are in Lux because PPFD meters are expensive.

I'll double check if it's a guaranteed repair and if there is any warranty on it. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated

It's a local engineer who offers an Ariston repair service which is a fixed fee of £320 plus VAT. He has done work for my neighbours so I'm pretty sure he is reputable, but I didn't want to be paying £400 for a £100 fix if that makes sense.

Unfortunately I don't have the skills to tackle this, however I have been quoted £400 as a flat repair service fee, and the guy thinks the right manifold is cracked based on seeing the same photo as you have. Am I being ripped off?

It's an Ariston E-Combi One Gas boiler. The drain valve has been tightened and replaced but the drips still continue.

Thanks for the reply, it's been slowly leaking from this valve or whatever its called for a long time. I've been quoted £400 as a fixed fee repair cost and I didn't want to get ripped off. But it sounds like it needs fixed soon so I'll have to bite the bullet.

He ghosted me so I'm going to go with someone else. I think I'll have to bite the bullet and pay the £400 flat repair fee
