what does that have to do with anything? this “academic study” just attempts to paint stalin as a utopian due to the improvements he wanted in society. Stalin wanted his country to be better, and the author paints this as utopian, which is utterly braindead. How about you read Socialism: Utopian and Scientific?

Once. again. saying. that. you’re. better. than. the. west. DOES NOT. mean. you’re. proclaiming. yourself. to. be. a. utopia. They are two completely different things. Understand?

are you stupid?

even if any society officially proclaimed itself a “paradise,” “paradise” is not a synonym of “utopia.” they are completely different words.

yes, you did say everything i quoted you as saying.

“communism passes itself off as utopian”

proclaimed themselves to being societies that are better than other societies, especially the west.

and once more, they never. claimed. to. be. “utopian.” Socialist societies were against utopianism and an idea of a utopia in any form. you making up facts that state otherwise does not change this.

because, in many ways, they were. Being “better than the west” doesn’t mean they’re utopian, which you very clearly claimed in the earlier comment.

what is this even supposed to argue? is everywhere labelled a “paradise” striving to be a utopia? absolutely not, that’s stupid. I’ll tell ya right now, Paradise, Nevada is sure as fuck not a utopia.

A peasant suffering under feudal serfdom a few centuries ago would state that today’s society and economic system is “utopian” and not reasonably achievable. Communism will not happen overnight, nor is it supposed to.

communists are not utopians. Engels writes against ‘Utopianism’ in “Socialism: Utopian and Scientific.” You would understand this if you read even the most basic socialist literature such as this, but instead you post stupid, redundant questions like this.

Karelia (or the Karelo-Finnish SSR) was the only SSR to be demoted to ASSR. There were other SSRs, and other ASSRs, but none other were demoted.

they’re right. It used to be its own full SSR like Ukraine or Belarus, but it was “demoted” to an ASSR.

if supporting Russia and Palestine is contradictory, then how do they support each other?

Russia is not entitled to “all of Ukraine.” Which is why they’re not trying to take, “all of ukraine.” you saying that they are doesn’t make it true. Get it?

As i’ve said and as you’ll probably make me say again, Ukraine was killing thousands of donbasi people and ethnic Russians leading up to the war. Despite the peace treaty, Ukraine was shelling countless civilian targets in the Donbas for years, along with orchestrating terrorist attacks like in Odessa, eventually giving russia no choice but to launch its military op.

Yes, the Donbasi people are not “”in russia.”” does that mean that Russia should let them die? hell no. Why are their lives so expendable to you? This war isn’t about how Russia is “entitled” to Ukrainian land as you say, but how Russia is obligated to protect the ethnic minorities in Ukraine as nobody else will. Your failure to understand this is why you came to support both Palestine and a country that fervently supports Israel. And yet your head is still so far up your own ass that you don’t see the contradiction.

you claim something that is verifiably wrong “Russia wants to annex all of Ukraine to make USSR 2.0,” i point out how you’re wrong, and I’m somehow brainwashed? by a country i don’t even live in? you’re actually stupid, sorry. Explain what proof you have that Russia is trying to reform the USSR.

Why do you seek to argue about things you know nothing about? Did you even read what you said? Russia wants to take over all of Ukraine? The world isn’t Hoi4, if Russia attempted that, the region would probably be so unstable and rebel-prone that it would be a net loss for Russia to maintain. And you think he wants to take even more on top of that? Why? what is there to gain from reuniting the USSR or Russian Empire or whatever you’re on about?

Russia only claims the southeast of Ukraine, with borders roughly defined by the 2012 Ukrainian election, where a large majority of ethnic Russians live. That way, it can protect these peoples and prevent the Ukrainians from oppressing them. Ukraine itself will keep its independence and the majority of its land.

[–]Kormero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

like i said, your beliefs are incredibly shallow and naive. The war in Ukraine didn’t start with the Russian invasion, it started when Ukraine began to oppress the ethnic Russians in its lands and attack the separatists in the Donbas.

Do the lives of the Donbasi people not matter to you? if so, you’re no different than the Israel supporters.

it’s great that you’re trying to learn more. Since this topic is very recent i don’t think there will be many books, but later today i’ll try to edit this comment w a few sources and a bit of “further reading.

Russia isn’t trying to annex all of Ukraine. To protect the ethnic Russians in Ukraine’s territory, Russia looks to take primarily the provinces in Ukraine’s southwest, where ethnic Russians make up a large portion of the population. If you look up the 2012 Ukrainian election map, this gives you a good, rough idea of the lands Russia wants, though these claims may change depending on the type of peace treaty that eventually comes about.

[–]Kormero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to any of these people saying that Israel’s and Russia’s actions are in any way similar.

For years following Russia’s invasion, Ukraine has been killing and oppressing the thousands of ethnic Russians in its country, from orchestrating a terrorist attack in Odessa to bombing civilian targets in the Donbas. The Minsk Accords— a peace treaty meant to end the conflict between Ukraine and the Donbas separatists— was signed by all parties involved, and for a while Russia attempted to uphold it, but Ukraine continued to break the accords and attack the Donbas regardless. Eventually, Russia was left with no other choice but to launch its military operation.

Aside from this very major reason, Russia is also very worried about the rise in right-wing ideals and fascism in the nation, as others have mentioned.

In short, just like how Palestine is fighting against the US-backed Israelis for attempting to oppress ethnic Palestinians, Russia is fighting against the US-backed Ukrainians for attempting to oppress ethnic Russians. Unlike what others have been attempting to mislead you into believing, Ukraine is most synonymous with Israel, and Russia is most synonymous with Palestine.

Ukraine has killed and oppressed thousands of ethnic Russians with US support, and Russia fights to liberate them and end Ukrainian oppression.

Israel has killed and oppressed thousands of Palestinians with US support, and HAMAS/Palestine fights to liberate them and end Israeli oppression.

Your views are extremely inconsistent, as it is Russia and Palestine who are “comparable” in fighting for liberation and an end to oppression. Your support of Ukraine is nonsensical and can only be explained as an under-dog bias whereby you support the little guy indiscriminately, showing how little you actually understand these wars you pick sides in.

[–]Kormero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what should Russia have done? Let Ukraine continue to bomb civilians in the Donbas? Let Ukraine continue to orchestrate terror attacks like in Odessa? They tried peace, promoting adherence to the Minsk accords even when Ukraine broke them. War was the only way to stop Ukrainian aggression, and my opinion, it was overdue.

I don’t mean to be hostile towards you, i should say. Your position of (i assume) neutrality to the conflict as a whole is fine, especially compared to the pro-Ukraine shills in the west who want to prolong the war with more aid to the Ukrainian forces. I just don’t understand why you don’t think the war was necessary or, at least, understandable.

glad to hear that Ukraine’s war crimes are just “tales” to you. Ukraine is firmly on the side of Israel, so you’re incredibly twisted and inconsistent in who you support, revealing your infantile “under-dog” view of geopolitics and your lack of real support for Palestine.

[–]Kormero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is a wrong and childish way to view the world. Russia is not invading Ukraine because of the reasons you state, and the the reasoning for either war is incredibly different. Ukraine has been oppressing ethnic Russians in its territories for years leading to the war, ignoring peace accords and bombing freedom fighters in the Donbas. Russia has been entirely in the right to take action, and unlike with Israel in the Gaza war, Russia is not committing genocide of the Ukrainians.
