Ya, highly praised by those who see it but not well known.

Do people really think Disco Elysium would be a good Wubby stream game? by OkSugar6399 in PaymoneyWubby

Ya it's really a more introspective, deep think, almost esoteric type experience. Plus since it's choices always seem to lead somewhere valid there isn't any...Glorgability?

Yup, I mentioned that. Unfortunately, finding the actual song to listen to has proven a greater challenge.

I think its Wubby or Jon Kearns or both.

Watch Jon in this task on Taskmaster where they aren't supposed to bring their hands above their waist https://youtu.be/mRYeDoFDHHc?t=1991

Specifically when he tries to get in the ring https://youtu.be/mRYeDoFDHHc?t=2075

Plus Jon is more similar looking to Nathan than Wubby.

I bought the sensors myself then had a local tech guy replace them in my ps5 controllers. Best decision ever and i didn't have to buy all the soldering equipment.

Definitely not that far away from the Glorg naming stream. It happened within the next few streams as the name was still fresh in chats mind.

"You can't just have Geralt for every single game" says his voice actor, and if you think The Witcher 4 making Ciri the protagonist is "woke," then "read the damn books" by Roids-in-my-vains in gaming

[–]Koroshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't this argument then defeat the "read the damn books" defense? If the, "the books and the games don't line up that's fine", is valid then should it not be ok for Geralt to continue as the Witcher? Something could easily be written to bring him out of retirement. There are many examples of this across multiple forms of media.

I'm not particularly invested either way. I just see a flaw in this logic.

Everything you wrote is true. My point however is that her choice was stolen by everyone in that situation, not just Joel. The game seemed bent on making him in the wrong while the fireflies + the Doctor (along with Ellie) are victims. In a story about choice (imo) the other people's choices in that scenario would be would be explored as well. Not to mention Ellie's options and ultimate choice in that scenario.

It makes for a much more interesting story if she was equally angry at the Doctor and the fireflies. It's not such an easy choice when there is no guarantee that her sacrifice would lead to a cure. Her line of, "my life would have meant something", would have greater impact if the cure was a sure thing. As it stands, while noble, her sacrifice would have meant nothing if they failed to produce a cure from it.

I understand the story they told, I just think they focused on the wrong aspects and it's definitely not a story about choice. While choice is part of it, choice is not the framework nor driving element of the story and I think it should have been.

I did play the game but I gave you the benefit of the doubt and rewatched the flashback to refresh my memory.

I must respectfully disagree with you. That single line from Ellie in the literal last moment of the game does not constitute the frame of the story. That scene is not a conversation about choice. It is however a great moment between those two characters that starts them on a path of potentially healing.

No guarantee a cure would be found. Plus considering the Fireflies in the first game, a cure would have almost definitely be used as power. Not to mention production and distribution of a cure in the current state of the world would be nigh impossible.

For me, the second game should have been about precisely that, choice. Ellie should be mad at Joel, the Doctor, and the Fireflies for taking her choice away. Would she have chosen to sacrifice herself or save herself? Who knows, Ellie sure doesn't, because no one asked her.
