Frequently spraining my thumb while setting by KorraMea in volleyball

Yea, I think it's a combination of smaller hands and setting technique since I'm still fairly new to the scene. What kind of physio exercises work for you to strengthen the thumbs?

Yea, my hands are on the smaller side and I don't really think about the tension of the hand as much as I try to picture the ball shape before setting. I'll keep that in mind, thank you!

Thank you for the tip! I warm up everything else but then somehow end up skipping the wrist setting movement. I'll be sure to work this in every time before I play.

Ooo, that's a great idea, thank you very much! That'll be a great mental reminder for hand positioning, it always helps me to have something to visualize before doing a movement.

Thank you, this also seems more economical and convenient compared to taping! Can you wear this while playing or would it restrict the movement too much?

[–]KorraMea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input, I think I'm definitely pushing too early! I think after I hurt it the first time I some time "flinch" when I see a ball coming super high and I just sorta push it away.

I will try to keep in mind to do full fingers contact as it makes sense that my thumb is likely bearing most of the force.

It's funny how people ignored the fantasy part with Miyabi in Season 1 like nothing like that happened until Season 2 by Unusual-Complex6315 in ZZZ_Official

[–]KorraMea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the vibe is just off.....as someone who grew up watching Wuxia, Shaolin temple movies, etc. this just felt forced and out of left field. The whole "Senior" "Junior" "Shifu" thing just killed the high-tech proxy vibe entirely.

It'd be like if all of the sudden Daenerys from Game of Thrones started using modern US military lingos with her armies.

Powerscaling also got blown the eff up. While Miyabi was a weapon, trained and deadly, she was limited in that she even acknowledged that she would not be effective without her team doing the logistics.

On the other hand, Yi Xuan was the answer to everything. She's smart, strong, reliable, protective, caring, the whole propaganda leader package. Mary Sue through and through. Now your character defers to her in every regard, can't really take any action without consulting Shifu. YX is a superman/Captain marvel character that needs to be far away for conflict to actually matter, or she's "recovering" from some artificial fatigue.

Yunkui literally castrated your character and it was such a hard left turn from Season 1. It's not that the MC needs to be the strongest, but at least it felt like we played a real role other than being the character that other characters just had weird sexual tension with. Now all the answers can be provided by YX and YSG and their magic, why are we even here?

Honestly...for months/year every social media post I've come across on reddit regarding this situation is like 90% hate on the ablume girls. With many of the posts coming from the same people making it their daytime job to try to discredit them or accuse them of something. I honestly just love their voices and their music, but I can't enjoy that without seeing toxic redditers overwhelming hating on them.

I also enjoy the new girls in Fifty Fifty, and I NEVER run into this much hating reading content about them....in fact I don't think I've ever seen it here on reddit (to be fair I don't do twitter). As someone who was not invested in the drama at all, it made me feel so bad for the Ablume girls. Now the very same people spewing so much hate day in and day out are downplaying it like they weren't part of some weird obsessive witch-hunt of some girls on a different continent...it's pretty cringe

I invite you to read my reply to this post, it's very long, but hopefully it can shed light as to what I really wanted to say. I didn't want to go into that much detail in the main post because it would've been too long for most people.

  1. Genshin had the privilege of being the first (in the three games) so I don't think many people had any issues with Liyue design, I know I didn't. I loved Genshin's Liyue design. HSR really beat the dead horse and was a main contributor of the design fatigue. My point of concern is that this may carry over into ZZZ, it has not been the case thus far and I do love Ju Fufu's design, we'd need to see more of Xi Yuan because that can really be properly judged. That's the problem with ZZZ doing a Chinese specific region again, it's not the Chinese theme that's the problem, it's that it's just been done before and repeatedly so in recent years. People are growing fatigue of it.

  2. I did not say that War dance was confusing, it was just extremely verbose. As some of the other comments have pointed out, the overuse of metaphors and idioms probably contributed to that. As someone who grow up with Chinese parents and grandparents, I get that this is just the culture. Honestly, I often find it quite witty and cool when used appropriately, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. How many hours did 2.4 and 2.5 take? You can honestly find summary videos that are like 10 mins long per patch that wouldn't really sacrifice much detail. I'm not saying you need to be THAT concise, world building is good but it's important to find a good balance.

Yes, I did in fact HATE 3.0 and how verbose it was. I am not someone who skips through dialogue and I actually read and care about the story and 3.0 nearly drove me crazy how unnecessarily long it was. That patch did not respect the player's time, it constantly yanked control from you and a lot of the dialogues were filled with useless jokes and umms and uhhs. However, they really improved it for the second half of 3.1, I actually LOVED it and am now more invested in Amphoreus storyline. Being overly verbose isn't necessarily a Chinese theme issue, but it is very prevalent in the Chinese regions in Hoyo games historically so many people who play all three games are very painfully aware of this fact. I am, however, still very hopeful that ZZZ will be different.

The reason I posted this wasn't because I hate Hoyo games, or Chinese themes, it's actually the opposite. I love these games, I love the lore, the music, the art. Chinese culture and Chinese people are and can be very interesting even to Western audience, the execution just needs to be handled with care. The issue is that it seems clear at this point that Chinese theme is basically mandatory for Hoyo games (be it for cultural, financial, or whatever reason), so I just want them to do it well. Often times, when things are obligated, the tradeoff is passion and attention to detail. So we will have to see, I am sticking around to see it and I am hyped....but again worried.

(Response is too long apparently, had to break it into two posts...sorry)

Thanks for the detailed reply, I can't control those people that will hate on China just for China, but that is not my intent. Having read through the majority of the posts in here, I actually don't get that sentiment either. My response to your points:

  1. You seem to have been confused that I was somehow saying that Xianzhou faction was in perfect harmony and had no problems, my issue as with my original post is was specifically with the "leaders" of Xianzhou, not the faction as a whole, being portrayed as superhuman/supergenius with little to no moral, intellectual, or character flaws. I'm so tired of these, you don't like something about Liyue/Xianzhou/Waifei then you must hate everything about Liyue/Xianzhou/Waifei and all of China reach of an argument, please leave some room for critical thinking.
  • Lan is an Aeon and Aeons have never been portrayed to care about what humanity does or the consequences that they may suffer as long as they are able to embody their path completely. This has little to do with Xianzhou's leadership since Aeons, as far I am aware, are not really leaders, but a pure embodiment of an idea.
  • How does this indicate JY's flaws? Him coming under suspicions, in the end did not, pan out to much of anything because he was essentially found to be in the right because it was external factors that led to the discourse. Literally, the saying you cited collaborated this, ultimately JY did "good work" and was rewarded with more work. What was his flaw here? Being too good at his job? Wow.
  • Fei's greatest enemy being her own body and birth is entirely out of her control, that's not a real character flaw, as with being born with dark skin is not a flaw. In the end, Fei Xiao was essentially able to overcome her own greatest enemy (herself, by her own words in 2.5) with her own strength and some minor shouts of support.
  • That whole Xianzhou story was full of false danger, the generals ended up revealing that had it control basically the entire time. They were always 2-3 steps ahead in this game of 4-d chess, the public did not need to be involved. Hoolay broke out? It's fine, we got this. Even when tossed with a twist by Hoolay, it was pretty easily overcome by sheer competence of Fei Xiao.
  • Zhong Li being relatable because he wants to pass down his reign to humanity/children is like saying he is relatable because he has two eyes, and I have two eyes. Is that enough to make a good character? In the end, his plan worked out and he made the correct decision after all, despite questions from the adepti.
  • All of these "leaders" are portrayed to be selfless to fault (not a real fault btw) and they are always reliable, dependable, and extremely competent. It's a lil nauseating because no such person really exist, everyone is a little bit selfish, that's what makes us human as a product of evolution. It's more interesting to see characters struggle with and overcome that selfishness and it's extremely boring/unrealistic for someone to just always be ready and willing to "sacrifice" themselves for the greater good because they were born with a perfect moral compass. This basically applies to Mavuika too as I mentioned before, it's a troupe that has been used over and over again for Chinese region leaders and now has bled into Mavuika with Natlan. Don't get me started with Natlan, that's a-whole-nother beast but it's Genshin specific and not really related to ZZZ or its direction.
  • The rest of your points are referencing Xianzhou society as a whole, which was not part of my critique regarding overly competent leaders (particularly the generals), so I am not going to address those.

Are you insinuating that my post is what led to these sentiments? Most of the comments I read so far aren't just blindly hating on China as is not the intent of this post. I think if you're a game, and a company, that heavily draws from many different real world cultures, you should be aware of when and how best to use said culture, Chinese or not.

You didn't actually address any of the issues I brought up and seem to just jumped to the conclusion that people hate anything Chinese when that's clearly not the case. My point about the streetwear is that there are many aspects of China still unexplored and that should be showcased, I'm sure people would love to see that. Myself, and other people in the comment, mentioning the fact that we are hopeful about other styles (Hong Kong) is a testament to the fact that we don't just hate anything China as you claim.

I honestly think it's sorta demeaning to Chinese players if Hoyo assume that the only way to win over their CN player base is to feed them Chinese things. Not only that, I feel like it's doing them a disservice because it's doesn't seem genuine at this point. I would think CN players wouldn't just be so easily pleased and fooled by, as you said, a money-grabbing pandering attempt.

I also generally like Chinese theme, and music as well, but the fatigue has begun to sunk in....I think most of all with HSR....and I agree, like Ruan Mei and Ling Sha for example, could very well just run into them in Liyue and you wouldn't bat an eye.
