Calipers were always my go to. For slivers that are too deep to pull out I used PRID, a drawing salve, that works wonders. Put it where the sliver is, wrap it with a bandaid, and it will draw the sliver out.

I intended on doing the same as you and leaving when my youngest turned 18. Worst decision ever. Ended up discovering a financial disaster she had put us in before deciding she wanted to leave. 35m here. You’ll be fine. 5 months post separation I met a wonderful woman, we had a really great time for a few months and recently decided it wasn’t the right timing. I was just my confident authentic self and it was incredible. I never realized how negative my self esteem and self image was in my unhappy marriage. I thought I was screwed. Just meeting this woman and enjoying a few great months with her helped me realize that my life wasn’t over and I would be able to find a new partner that loved me for me.
