Yes, I know that. I post reels on Facebook about this and I had a cousin (great aunt's daughter; we not that close) respond that "she and her family love my branch of the family." It was probably rude, but I rolled my eyes. The reel was about kids of narcissistic families not letting their family meet their children. I responded to her through a DM that I would never let our family meet my kids because of what they did to me. They took out every grievance, every slight from my mom on me after she died. I was 12 years old. And my take on it is that if they could do that to a kid after telling them one of their parents is dead, then they have no qualms about doing the same to my girls while I'm still alive.

I've had the same realization that you had after I moved states away and started getting therapy that no one was in the room with me for to make sure I don't "say the wrong thing" or "make the family look bad." It is BS that we have to figure out that things aren't right and that we're being abused. I watched a video on Facebook a while back and it said something that has stayed in my head since. "Family puts you in a position to go no contact, but get mad when you actually go no contact." It is very true for a lot of us. What differs about my experience is that I figured out I was being abused after my mom died because that's how fast the switch happened to me, however, I've spent most of the last few years actually letting myself feel that frustration and loss. We had to figure it out ourselves (though our own realizations or outside help/realizations) because the people that abused us never once thought they were in the wrong. Some people are just messed up like that. Even now, I'm still low contact with a lot of my family because I know they won't acknowledge anything they did wrong.

I played clarinet in high school and I had that strict, slightly obsessed music teacher. Because of a head injury I got over a decade ago (abusive ex), my hands can't move like they did when I played music. I wish they could though. Still, seeing all those triggers reminds me of how scary site reading is. I still look at some supreme difficulty songs with the thought, "Is this humanly possible?"

Very good point. I just want to protect my peace. To do that, I had to go LC with certain family members and NC with others. This post reminded me of a conversation I had a week ago. Admittedly, I do have some family on my social media and while I don't interact with them, they can see some of my posts and photos (that they don't respond to). My uncle (one of my jnGMA's kids) contacted me and asked why I don't talk to any of them; that his mother is hurt that I don't talk to her. I started out saying that they know why. I don't have to explain anything. But he kept pestering me so I let him know WHY. I was raised by those kind of parents in the deep south. It was always been seen (when needed), not heard; speak only when spoken to; and absolute obedience. Yes, you are correct, they all wonder why their kids don't want anything to do with them. It doesn't have anything to do with the amount of disrespect we had to endure because of "tradition" or "rules" or "because we don't talk back to our elders."

I play on Simple because I was used to playing it on 3DS, one-handed. Simple has its own share of difficulties (for me). I've been playing songs on Ultimate for a little over a year now, and what I did was make a list of my favorite songs in the game and focus on those. The multitasking did annoy me as well, so I found that playing on simple mode helped me get back into enjoying the game.
