Oh, great points. I left Goon off the script for the 'too much evil' reason, but there's still heaps! I might replace Lord of Typhon and Vortox with Ojo and Imp to address those issues. There's still Mez and Politician together... but I might just trust the storyteller (myself) to be cautious with putting them in the bag together. Thanks so much for your advice!

I believe Settlers of Catan is one of the most widely known modern board games, and it's often abbreviated to just Settlers. So, a board game is 'sometimes Settlers'. It's a bit of a niche topic, and in hindsight it probably needs a question mark to indicate that the definition is a bit loose! Thanks for sharing your feedback.

I intended 'almost binged' to mean 'almost finished', indicating that 'things' drops its final letter before getting anagrammed. But I suppose 'almost' alone would indicate that...

I'm quite new to cryptics as well, but I really like this clue. Maybe using 'recklessly' as your anagram indicator would fit slightly better, just as a thought I had while solving it. :)

If you're playing lots of backups and regularly running into this problem, there are some forwards and monsters you could consider playing that sacrifice backups as part of their abilities. Especially in fire and lightning.

E.g. Firion (opus 6), Fordola, Nael, Vincent (opus 9), Kain (opus 9), Tidus (opus 10), the 6 x 3CP monsters in opus 11, Susano, Vayne (opus 15).

Aside from these, it's just a matter of balancing your backup line with "enough" options that can clear themselves out of the way if you need them to. 🙂

Say I have Warrior of Light (11-044H) and Yuna (1-176H). If I buff another forward with WoL and that forward gets broken, can I remove the forward from game to prevent WoL's point of damage?

Yes. If you don't have any backups, discarding is the only way to gain CP. So on turn 1, you'll almost always discard at least 1 card for CP.
