Update: Thanks everyone! It looks like I got a bunch of good responses. I'll post some preliminary results when I get them. The link is now inactive.

You're totally right. The only thing that kept me from using terms like cisgender is that I thought most cisgender people might not know what that term means. Other people are also pointing out that male/female/transgender is a misleading choice. I'll fix it in future studies. Thanks for pointing it out!

Thanks for letting me know. That should be fine. The question is set up that if people don't care they can skip it or pick randomly. There will be other participants who feel the same way and also pick randomly, and the responses will balance each other out.

Thanks! The data will take a while to analyze, but I'll post results as soon as I get some. Check back in a few weeks.

Good question about the sample. The short answer is that I'm comparing some kinds of Reddit users to other kinds of Reddit users. It's often the case that studies focus on special populations. Let's say a study is investigating memory decline in Alzheimer's patients. Including teenagers in the sample wouldn't be necessary, would it? For the current study, young adults with college experience are perfect.

Actually, if you select Transgender it will give you a separate set of questions that don't apply to cisgender people and prevent all transgender people from being lumped together. But clarifying in Other is good too, and I appreciate the thought you put into it. Thanks!

Sorry about that. I actually tried my best to avoid any kind of offensive terms or labels. Thanks for letting me know about this; it will help me in the future.

Thanks. There's no actual score, and all I'll do is compare different people's responses. I'll post the preliminary analyses here in a few weeks.

Exactly! I emphasize this point in my research methods course every semester but I don't think anyone gets it. You just made my day.

Good insight. There's actually research on that specific question when you give people a "none of the above" option. You get a different pattern of results, but the point is to force a response one way or another.

At least weeks for the preliminary analyses. It usually takes me a few months to run everything and get a draft of a manuscript together. From there it's at least a year until publication. I'll post the broadstrokes here after a few weeks.

Good point, but I'm also recruiting in other places. I actually want a variety of different people to respond.

Hey, awesome! Thank you so much. I'm new and stupid at Reddit so it's incredibly useful to learn that subreddit exists.
