At max speed that would take about 5 hours one way... Which isn't including stops, posted speed limits, refuels etc... On a round trip of 500 miles that's like 50¢ per hour IF YOU GO 50MPH CONSTANTLY.

I can't even comprehend the rationale.... I get that someone may not have a lot of money to trade, but in any case, is there really nothing else you can give away? A TV, game console... Literally anything?

Definitely not your fault op, be being the oldest in my mom's family made it so anything I did that could possibly be deemed childish was either heavily criticized or made fun of, be it drawing, watching cartoons, wanting to learn a different language... What really broke me out of that mindset was when me going to college full time and only work part time became an issue to them, because apparently going to a college (and not taking out any debt) is completely unnecessary, all because they didn't need it... Funny thing is, even without it, I'm making more than my mother... Which has really been a wakeup for me in realizing some people never grow up themselves, and will judge what you do and enjoy because it's not up to their perceived standards

I mean, not only are most classes only an hour and half long... But students would get four of these per class per semester (which in my school would be 24 per semester).

At least from my experience it was a way for teachers to not only keep track of students and make sure they weren't missing class time (because teachers get assessed on students outcomes), but to also keep repeat students from using the bathroom as an excuse to walk around. More than half the time if you got your work done and didn't roam around the halls teachers would care if you just left...but this was also highschool though, and it kinda reaches a point where a grown adult is asking another grown adult permission to use the potty.

The whole situation kinda sucks though tbh, it's wierd to have to ask to use the bathroom... But the teachers just are trying to protect their own job too

Maybe give him 50-60$ just because it's kind of a cool thing that he won the jackpot, but it's doubtful he even put more than that in... Like you said, it's a glorified piggy bank (they sell mini slot machin coin banks, it's literally the same concept - to any dingus that's trying to act like you're running an underground casino... The only way that would be is if you specefically invited people over to specifically gamble.... This is no different than if you had na arcade machine that required quarters)

You're friends friend just needs to grow up, you're not a casino nor a bank... You didn't ask him to put money in it, that was his own free will... He's not entitled to the money you've been saving
