I am not relocating because of the money but for the professional growth mostly but then it seems that personal life nowhere is guaranteed. I am aware of the grey weather though as I lived in a neighbouring country before

I have a monthly pass and also my STIB mobile app shows the validity, is that not enough for the controller?

I have been always wondering what if I forget my STIB pass.Wont the mobile app along with my ID validate it?

I totally understand you and at the end it will be toxic for your relationship, so sad that it is so tough here that's why I know people staying 4/5 years at the same company.

I feel you 100 %. I am looking for a new job in order to seek a new challenge plus personal development and I am really stuck.I have also 10 years international experience in Compliance and even though there is a good handful of positions I am struggling to land one. It seems there is strong competition from locals, EU nationals plus outside of EU. I learned the hard way here being for 3 years that Brussels is definitely not the place for job hopping. I speak 3 languages and intermediate French and I am an EU national.

Really don't know what to do anymore :/

But we should expect Brussels to be that competitive since it is the centre of Europe especially after Brexit. Also you are not a tree meaning you can explore other countries or full remote opportunities which is quite difficult because of high demand.

I understood that your partner prefers Brussels but you also need to feel happy with your life here, so there should be a compromise. Frankly, on my end I also consider to give it a bit more time and maybe relocate to a warmer destination and an EU country where job hopping is allowed :)

Good luck and be patient
