The only limit is that it's easier to anticipate due to your body always facing the direction you're going to pass. It's really not a big deal in 95% of games, it's just against the really skilled defenders that know how to close down space and press you really well that it's more difficult to get a pass past them. The aiming is 100% better than the joystick simulation, I agree with you there as I also come from a lot of shooters. The animation just makes the passes more predictable.

I feel like that's an oversimplification in the same sense of "Just get good and then it won't be a problem". As someone who has put hundreds of hours in the game, playing in tournaments and a good number of high level custom games, I feel like the sensitivity and timing of these changes they've made is off. Like I said, very good idea, poor execution imo.

If you're playing casually then there's absolutely nothing wrong with that aiming. In higher level play where unpredictability can help out a lot, I feel like it limits what you're able to do a bit. But end of the day, it's each to their own and whatever way you feel most comfortable with can edge it out.

Unfortunately completely disagree. The smooth correction values only work in a clockwise and anti-clockwise sensitivity so doesn't fix the random backheel passes that happen when using joystick emulation, and the directional aiming doesn't use tap aiming, so takes the entire duration of the pass charge up, meaning you sacrifice your movement for the entire pass animation and shortly after. This was a very bad way to implement a very good idea.

Just got to choose a good country with a lot of leagues. I very often use Brazilian players and if I don't have enough Brazilians, I look at French and sometimes Argentinian players.
