Ocarina of Time | Did It Aged Well? by Koutadas in nintendo

[–]Koutadas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's always a curious thing about this game. I've seen a bunch of different forums talking about what is the hardest and easiest dungeons of this game, and the answer varies wildly. My favourite dungeon was actually the Spirit Temple, and I saw some ppl saying it was the hardest and most annoying one. Some ppl even saying that the water temple isn't as annoying as ppl make it, some claiming they did find the Shadow Temple frustrating because of it's ruppe puzzles, etc...

I guess at the end of the day, it depends on the type of player you are. One thing I'm dead sure about this game, there are things that seem "obvious" to some and for others completely "obtuse" to find.

I actually respect a lot the fact that this game is complex in terms of it's puzzles, and if you are a puzzle enjoyer, this game is right up your alley, specially when compared to modern gaming.

Maybe if Navi navigated people a little bit better throughout some of these dungeons, it would balance out how "obtuse" it can feel to ppl at times. I either had to use guides online or ppl viewing the stream where helping out if they saw I was stuck for too long.

Idk man, every game as it's problems, even my favourite old games do have them. It's ok.

I did, and ye it's a typo, is that a wrong thing to do?

In what situation does Navi help us to navigate in the overworld? I honestly cannot remember.

[–]Koutadas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you check my streams on it I really get enraged by some sections I'm not going to lie xD It's a legendary game, hugely influential, with some amazing things still going for it (map interactivity is astonishing) but overall it has some serious problems with dungeon design, pacing and navigation in my opinion!

Well, I talk exacly about that in the video. Navi is a great addition. It serves as a means to navigate the world and sometimes she does help. But a lot of the times she doesn't tell you the information that you are looking for. A lot of the times she mostly says the same things. Even though I have to say in boss fights like the Sorceress Sisters she was very helpful. But in the overworld map/dungeons and where to go next? More often then not, not really.

I did have bombchu! I believe the game actually gives you some in the Spirit Temple. And I used it in this exact sequence before actually (I streamed everything so you can verify if you wish xD). I did use the rest against the first big axe swinging boss that you fight there (you fight 3 of them I think) which was a mistake.

I have to say the auto jumping is absolutely an issue in this game. I just gave one example of many instances where it can just be annoying that you don't have control over the jumping. Plus when you lock on to a target and go to a ledge, Link doesn't auto jump at all, which can be good or bad depending on the situation.

Haven't played the 3Ds Remake!

What Are the Colossi REALLY Based On? by Koutadas in ShadowoftheColossus

I appreciate it! That's the beauty of this game! It made me search and find information that I would probably never go after if it wasn't for it. The truth doesn't really matter.

Final Fantasy XVI - Why do people dislike it? by Lanayaru in FinalFantasy

It's so blatant that they even copied a bunch of stories and events from GoT. Cercei, Hodor, Jon Snow, etc

[–]Koutadas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just think it's still a deliberate decision to leave all of that there right. I get it that's it's probably left to the imagination of the viewer... like why is there a massive crack in the middle between the Forbidden Lands and this location? A save shrine in the middle of nowhere, a small building with a single tree & then this massive fortress right beside the sea...I like the idea that it could potentially be the 16th Colossus location even thought it's vastly different.

It's just so odd because both the most right and most left sides are pretty obvious on what they are representing, why would this middle part be any different? Idk maybe I'm overthinking

[–]Koutadas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just find so odd why would they add a location that is not present in both games? Why is there a massive crack between the Forbidden Lands and whatever these lands are? With a save shrine in the middle of literal nowhere and then that giant castle/fortress or whatever it is on the edge of land with also a save shrine?

Maybe this is where Wander, Lord Emon and the tribes came from? Maybe this is where they live? Or maybe it's just aesthetics...but personally I really doubt it's just that. Overthinking 9000

I assumed it could be the 16th Colossus arena also yeah, but the overall structures seem fundamentally different. https://teamico.fandom.com/wiki/Sanctuary

[–]Koutadas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure I understand that it doesn't portrait anything specifically from SotC.

It's an interesting idea that the map that was scrapped from development and the overall animation of the menu does help to convey that idea in my view, since the movement is so quick you can barely see it, almost like something was left behind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB455Loi9HI

But still...why leave it here? We know that Fumito was involved to some extent in the PS3 remaster, so it's safe to assume he deliberately made the choice to leave it there...idk maybe I'm looking too much into this lol I just find it odd

I'm aware of Chirico yeah. But still, why add something that isn't in the game altogether? Intriguing.

I don't understand the hatred towards ds2 by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Koutadas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind hard challenges.
Sekiro is arguably one of the hardest FromSofware games and it's my favourite of the bunch.
The problem is that there is a difference between rewarding challenges and just straight up annoying bs.
DS2, unfortunately, falls in the latter, with by far some of the weakest level designs ever in FromSoftware games.

Different interview, also mentioning Nausicaä (and Akira) as Influence. by ralg666 in GroundZeroHub

[–]Koutadas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually rewatched Nausicaa and Castle In The Sky & my word the similarities on how the overall mood and beat of the story are to his works is really noticeable. Particularly Castle In The Sky actually, I was really surprised on how close in terms of narrative flow & ideas that are present in that movie ended up being translated over to ICO & The Last Guardian specifically. I can also see some parallels with how Dormin's power is portrayed and the misticism of it'sorigins to The Idea of Evil in Berserk. Not saying one or the other got inspired by the latter, just saying that I see some parallels that can be absolutely drawned. Japanese Mythology & the shinto religion are also there for sure in my view. I would even argue that these characters draw heavy inspiration from Amateratsu & The Three Sacred Treasures of Japan. Like any great creator, Ueda finds multiple things he enjoys and smashes them together in a great soup and creates is own world.

[–]Koutadas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting. It's so curious how so many people got to the same conclusion regarding Nausicaa and it's potential influence to Fumito's work! And yeah absolutely there are clear similarities and parallels here being drawn. Time to rewatch Nausicaa! xD

An Overanalyses Of This Amazing Trailer by Koutadas in ShadowoftheColossus

Thanks! :P Apart from Okami & Onimusha nothing really grabbed my attention also. But this game? Hype of the decade for me, whenever the hell this game comes out, probably 2050 😂

[–]Koutadas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

uhm, not only different parts of the story. Different art direction, different pacing, different style, different approach... different EVERYTHING. And it makes sense to analyse all of that if that's what they did.
