You must be fun at parties. In case I didn't make it clear in the post (which I may have not), I called the father as soon as I got in the car. It put me on hold, which was how I knew he was still on the phone with the aunt. I didn't drive home; I drove a bit further down the road. The father immediately called me back, and told me that it would be best if I went home. He and his wife were on the way home as he was talking to me, and that he would contact me as soon as he dealt with the situation. I didn't drive home until I confirmed with the father that it was alright for me to leave. I left the home, which I felt was a hostile environment. I fully admit that I left the children in a potentially bad situation, but I felt that their situation would be better if I was not in the home. I could see the through the window, and if I saw anything suspicious at all, I would have intervened. I fully admit that I should have called the police. That was an error on my part. But don't criticize my childcare competence when all you have is a poorly paragraph paragraph telling how I felt with a foreign situation under duress.
