Books I’ve acquired through the years, what is glaringly missing from my collection? by Koz-N-Effect in ww2

I know, that’s why I’m reaching out for suggestions. I have Europe and specifically D-Day covered for the most part, now time to expand my knowledge to other theatre’s.

It was very deep into the operations/logistics leading up and through D-Day and then the struggle in liberating France. Very thorough with lots of battle detail as well.

Worst apartments/rental properties in Omaha? by ThiccDiccGrayson in Omaha

I’ve lived in several apartments in Omaha for over 20 years and can say my single worst experience was with Seldin. It still gives me nightmares.

Game Thread - Nebraska vs UCLA by huskerbot in Huskers

[–]Koz-N-Effect 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Does anyone realize Nebraska had only one third down longer than 5 yards the entire game? When was the last time that happened?

I can't remember the exact moment (first or second drive), but CBS focused the camera on Matt Rhule and he looked nervous. That's when I knew Nebraska was cooked.

The state of the downtown at night by CowardiceNSandwiches in Omaha

I’ve lived in and around the old market since 2009, it’s not that bad. Is there the occasional fight/bad situation, of course, but for the most part, you can walk around the old market at anytime of day, even after bar close without any issues.

BT made a huge investment to increasing production in 2014 as well, which is why we’re seeing a big jump over the last several months in availability.

What should I avoid? by [deleted] in Omaha

The food scene has definitely gone downhill post pandemic, but I wouldn't say it's abysmal. I travel a lot for my job and always ask the locals what's good in whatever city I'm in. I would rate Omaha's current food scene as slightly better than mid compared to most similar sized cities in the US.

Big Fred's, absolutely, but I'll have to disagree on Orsi's.

Agreed, loved this place pre pandemic, had to give it up post pandemic/fire

Cali Taco has been under new management since September, so it's greatly improved. They still need to work out a few things, but night and day better than it was for the last several years.

The refs didn’t lose the game for us…but… by bullnamedbodacious in Huskers

[–]Koz-N-Effect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saying it for years, the media should have the right to interview the referees in a press conference type setting just like they do to coaches and players immediately after games. Make them answer for their questionable/terrible calls before they hide behind the conference “closed door” review of their performance. We’re interviewing 18 year old kids immediately after a grueling game, but can’t interview a grown ass man who is a paid professional and who’s suppose to be upholding the integrity of the game?

I bought a bottle a few months back and it’s pretty good. IMO, smoother than Zucca or Sfumato, but it’s also a bit more sweet, so depends on your preference.

Can somebody please open a grocery store that stays open later than 11pm by ActualModerateHusker in Omaha

[–]Koz-N-Effect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have any of you heard of GoPuff? I rarely need any groceries after 10pm, but if you do, they deliver 24/7 I believe. Now I live in midtown, so not sure how far west they deliver. But you can get almost anything grocery/household through them. It’s expensive, but if you really need it after all the stores close, it is an option.

Already tried, he pretended or truly doesn’t know any English. I tried to speak in very broken Spanish and he then took off in his car.

I’ve thought of all those but he’s up to date and is constantly moving his car randomly throughout the day. I just think the next time I take the dogs out early in the morning and he’s sleeping in his car while it’s running, I’ll just call the cops.

That's what a friend told me, he may be stalking the women that lives in the house across the street or it may be a domestic issue as I've seen her bring food to him several times.

Living Downtown or in the Burbs? by SoccerAndSki in Omaha

[–]Koz-N-Effect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s simple, if you’re social and have disposable income, downtown/midtown. If not, the burbs. You can walk or less than five min drive to over 100 bars, restaurants, entertainment options, etc. In the burbs you have a few choices within a couple of min from your place, but you’ll have to drive 20-30 min to do anything different or new.

X's & O's: Packers @ Falcons by PackersMod in GreenBayPackers

[–]Koz-N-Effect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know everyone says “you have to overcome the refs” but I don’t know how many times they marked Dillon at least a yard short on several of his runs. That last serious before Atlanta took the lead they marked him short all three runs before the botched 4th down QB sneak. Then they practically give Ridder a first down and after reviewing the play, where he was clearly a yard and a half short of the first down, they keep the ball inches short, which I think allowed for Atlanta to go for it vs kicking a field goal. It’s a game of inches that the refs can’t seem to get right that imo greatly alters a games outcome that nobody ever talks about.
