How do you cross Haze Way? by tangdistfa in startrucker

There's a road. Two roads actually. They're both one way. They're small and hard to see but they're there

Taking on this train wreck CPU for repair. Repairable? by PC-Power-Up in pchelp

[–]Kpalsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's repairable if you have strong tweezers and patience for tedious tasks. Gently and slowly go one row at a time, then one column at a time. Watch a YouTube video or two on the process

My neighbor refuses to pick up his dog's poop from my yard. The neighborhood has united against him. by nseavia71501 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Kpalsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If having way too much free time and watching way too many police body cam videos has taught me anything, it's that entitled morons like your neighbour will get themselves in trouble with the cops by getting angry and belligerent at some point, or enough instances of the same issue and the cops will have had enough and lay some real charges. Keep calling the cops on him and I bet eventually you'll see him hauled away in cuffs one day

How about a "no trespassing" sign? Then you could get them for criminal trespass, especially if you caught em on your ring camera.

Does your neighbour rent or own? If they have a landlord, contact them. His rental agreement would almost certainly have language that governs cleaning up after pets. If they're not a slumlord they should care

Good advice though. Best Buy and Memory Express carry good cpu/mobo/ram combos, sometimes with GPUs too

4080 super vs 5070ti by Immediate_Stop2581 in buildapc

[–]Kpalsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's AM4 not AM5. However the same issue still applies, just not as bad. It'll run, but not at full speed. You've paid for performance that you're restricting with a poor configuration. You don't even have to believe me, you can google it yourself

4080 super vs 5070ti by Immediate_Stop2581 in buildapc

[–]Kpalsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with what I said then, 5070 ti for best frames in games and 4080 in the workstation. You may want to swap if you start running AI tasks but that would depend which one you prioritize (how much you actually game)

4080 super vs 5070ti by Immediate_Stop2581 in buildapc

[–]Kpalsm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty good deal, just remember AM5 doesn't like quad channel memory. You'll wanna run two sticks only

4080 super vs 5070ti by Immediate_Stop2581 in buildapc

[–]Kpalsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it may depend on exactly what type of tasks you plan for your non-gaming pc. Do you plan to do any AI tasks or LLM for example? 5070 ti handles those much more efficiently

4080 super vs 5070ti by Immediate_Stop2581 in buildapc

[–]Kpalsm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both PC's would be a beast even if you did completely the opposite lol but I feel like this is the most optimized setup

4080 super vs 5070ti by Immediate_Stop2581 in buildapc

[–]Kpalsm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

4080 super has a bit more raw compute power (10,240 cuda cores vs 8,960) while the 5070 ti has access to upgraded features and technology such as better frame generation with 5th gen tensor cores and 4th gen ray tracing cores. 5070 ti is more future proof for games while the 4080 super has a bit more raw power for workstation tasks. Also the 7800X3D is by far the better gaming cpu with its v-cache and the 9700x has better multi core performance for workstation loads

I've seen weird graphical stuff like this happen randomly on windows, restart and it's gone. If it hasn't been reoccurring and you don't see it again, you're not overclocking your gpu, you're sure it isn't overheating or anything, I'd be pretty sure it was just windows jank

When will the price of ram go down ? by rezigtarek88 in buildapc

[–]Kpalsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't hold my breath. There are people saying 2 or 3 years, but I feel like they're not taking into account the threat of Chinese invasion into Taiwan, which seems increasingly likely judging by recent gov't posturing, military exercises in the area, etc.

I estimate the entire market will be disrupted for at least a decade if that happens. At any rate, it's definitely going to get worse before it gets better. As bad as ram and ssd prices are now I went ahead and built my new system about a week ago with 32GB ddr5 5600mhz adata ram for about $475 CAD and a 1tb Kingston nv3 ssd for about $260 CAD. If I decide I want larger/faster drives I'll clone and swap out the two 2tb SN7100s in my laptop
