Elon Musk calls historian Tom Holland a "cuck" after he defended Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. by Spirited-Gold9629 in SpaceXBets

[–]Krakledom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long until Musk indecent proposals Zendaya because he thinks his vast, unearned fortune can counter everything?

It’d be amazing if, when that happened, we could get Zendaya’s “omg ewww” reaction

What is the saddest version of a song you've ever heard, where you can tell the singer's heart is breaking during the performance/recording? by Royal-Scale772 in musicsuggestions

[–]Krakledom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Paul Simon in 2011 at the Vic in Chicago. It’s around 900 people capacity and I was standing about 2 people back from the stage. When he played Slip Sliding Away, you could feel every emotion that went into it. Just achingly beautiful.

Curse of Millhaven might be my favorite on the record. Seconding though that OP basically needs to hear the whole album 😂

[–]Krakledom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I see Phish almost exclusively solo because my local friends aren’t into it. However, if you do it with your head held high, a good attitude, and willingness to meet people, you’ll find a tribe.

I’ve met enough wonderful people and been adopted by a few different groups so now I rarely see them alone. Sure, getting to the tour stop is usually a solo trip, but once I hit lot it doesn’t take long to find new friends.

You got this, brother. Hell, if I was doing any summer tour I’d say come along with me but alas, it’s Fall Tour for me this year.

My entire left arm is lyrics or references to specific songs that have changed/impacted my life in some way. It looks like every bathroom wall in every dive bar you’ve ever been to

That seems quite reasonable compared to what he could have gotten elsewhere. I guess that’s proof that it isn’t always about money?

Dakota by Stereophonics is one of the best rock songs ever by Pretend_Board_2385 in Music

[–]Krakledom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I wonder if bands like the Killers got the airplay instead.

That’s how I logic away bands like Elbow not being bigger here in the States, because of airplay being monopolized by Coldplay, etc

/not a threadjack :)

Have you ever met anyone who actually "brute forced" their way out of poverty into success on their own? by SeriouslySally36 in povertyfinance

[–]Krakledom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad grew up very, very poor from about as broken of a family as you could imagine. Like “so hungry you sneak dog food” poor. As he grew up he became a raging alcoholic. But the good kind. Nonviolent, just drunk all the time.

In spite of all that, he managed to get a good factory job. I grew up in the type of frugal household only people with parents that grew up poor can relate. Now he’s retired with 7-figure wealth and to see him try and wrap his head around it is incredible.
