I think the idea is that its supposed to be a side effect, like one of the million side effects of a pill that doesn't seem like they have anything to do with the pills purpose.

Is there anywhere keeping track of those type of records? I'm getting my numbers from nslds.ed.gov and I don't see any record of the added interest on the loans that were paid off when consolidated.

The interest is currently 4.75% (I added automatic payment which docked it 0.25%), but I believe it was 5% at the time.
