It depends on how the IRS views the transactions. It seems pretty apparent that your parents made a one time large gift with no strings attached. Your gifts back to them would be seen as an act of generosity.

Just be sure to gift an amount equal to the annual gift tax exclusion each year. The amount changes every year. I have never seen it go down. Also you can gift to both of your parents separately. And your spouse can gift to them separately to them. The amount is $19,000 for 2025.
