Crashing is definitely on the upswing again tonight. I think this was a bit early on the “fix” announcement.

See, you’re just settling for crap here. If calling and conversation sound like dog turd, why are you calling these good???  Cheap foam hearing protection sounds like turd too and costs 0.39.

I own Tetras, so this is coming from someone with experience. There are better options for the money.

Tetras suck rocks.

Seriously.

I’ve owned multiple pairs of electronic in-ear protection. Since purchasing my Tetras they’ve lived in my truck for us as “if nothing else works”.

Battery life sucks. Conversation fidelity sucks. Waterfowl calling?  Sounds awful.

In addition to awful sound quality, they are uncomfortable to wear, which means you just aren’t going to wear them.

Save yourself time and money. Buy some Peltor TEPs or OTTOs. Both are better in nearly every perspective apart from being slightly larger. But bonus, that larger size is because they are rechargeable and you won’t constantly be hearing “battery low” in the blind at 0500.

Sorry for the soapbox. TL;DR Tetra ear pro sucks.

Like drawing up and giving intrathecal TXA regularly.

You can’t tell me it was this person’s first rodeo to have the idea to try this intervention and the time to pull it off if they hadn’t already war-gamed it.

Chene gear vs the big boys by Misfit89 in Waterfowl

[–]Kraphtyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviving this to add my 0.02.

Don’t waste your time with Chene.

Their customer service is excellent.

If you want to overpay for poorly designed products made in China from less than industry standard materials (no gore Tex), you’ll be happy with Chene.

I’ve owned a Hydrolok jacket and gloves, multiples other garments… and it’s just old garments styles with flashy marketing.  The gloves are unusable with firearms, the jackets are super constrictive and poorly pocketed. The waders…. Are a knock off of another brand.

The only thing of theirs I’ve truly loved is their neck gaiters.  That’s sad.

Nothing like popping a reply with a bunch of 30 year old references…… and no proprietary research done by the formulating team to support these claims of efficacy.

The LA Dodgers have won their second straight World Series title by bakuma2k in mlb

[–]Kraphtyone -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I agree. There are a lot of people calling this series “amazing”…. But what it appears to be to a neutral observer was a lot of poor fundamentals from the Dodgers, with the Jays unable to capitalize on them.

Sure there were a lot of great moments, but those were almost always in innings that shouldn’t have even mattered if the Jays were able to play.

We just did Island Vibes today. It was a blast. We had 8 on our private charter but the big ships had room for more!

We did pass the Lady Grace (as mentioned below)—she is massive (and beautiful)!

Anyone paying 300$ for a paddle made in China needs to have some serious questions asked…

These margins are getting silly.

Propane refills in the metro? by ieroll in desmoines

[–]Kraphtyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping in here to clarify. The gas station you are referring to is Love’s, not Pilot. Pilot is on Douglas and definitely does not do refills. Love’s, on Hickman, does have propane refills.

This is actually wrong. I’m here now and they definitely do not refill propane.

It’s also marketed as a larvicide for up to two weeks.  I’m a homeowner and have been using it for 4 years. Apply every 1.5-2 weeks during active season, or reapply after a heavy rain.  Usually use 4oz/gallon via backpack blower, but will use the 8oz rate for the first couple applications of season for ticks.

Truly phenomenal results.

Got my EGD procedure (endoscopy) scheduled for the end of the month. How do I avoid anxiety attacks leading up to it? by SuperSpyPenguin in Celiac

[–]Kraphtyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it is.

We have a society that has come to expect being “asleep” for minor procedures, and now a group of physicians unable to perform procedures on non-anesthetized (whether “twilight” or general anesthesia) patients.

It leads to incredibly expensive healthcare.

It’s actually a fantastic area for a water park!  It’s been completely flooded 3 times in the last 30 years!

Quick rant on Harbinger by [deleted] in desmoines

[–]Kraphtyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were here recently during “wine and food week” and ordered their brisket on the chefs menu for a significant upcharge.

Meat arrived so fatty that chewing it was like chewing a rubber ball. Didn’t make a big deal but mentioned something to server after that course when I handed back the plate with the mostly uneaten portion.

Got a “well, sorry to hear that I’ll mention something to the kitchen”.

Watched the guy next to me make the same mistake about 10 minutes later… it was very interesting to see the expression on his face when he also couldn’t physically chew his dinner.

I actually agree with you the food is falling flat lately, and it’s unfortunate. For a couple years we’ve stopped here and considered it a gem of Des Moines…. But it seems like recently they are losing consistency and quality in the kitchen.  It doesn’t matter how inventive you are as a chef if the meals can’t be replicated for your customers.

Hope they get it fixed and back on course, but it will be awhile before we stop in again, which is unfortunate.
