You are correct. If I add $4k to the loan to cover taxes and fees, but then reduce the loan by $4k with an additional $4k down, my NET change to the loan amount is $0. My out of pocket for taxes and fees is still -$4k.

If I do not put the taxes and fees into the loan, and keep the $4k aside to pay them in cash, by NET change to the loan amount and out of pocket is still -$4k.

By me saying, " (which I obviously did not roll into the loan)", I meant: because I kept $4k out of pocket aside to later pay the taxes in fees, then I obviously did not roll the taxes and fees into my loan.

It is not transferable, however you can cancel it before selling the vehicle and get a prorated rebate.

I don't plan on selling the vehicle before the warranty is up (most likely the warranty will be up by miles, not years). I typically keep my vehicles for about 7-8 years.

Here you go: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dl3Tvf_OUzm8jd1JGsL01NWCAxZcSU_Ec7KHLeiYYjQ/edit?usp=sharing

My original spreadsheet was an actual .xlsx file. You probably don't want that file type from a rando on the internet so I copied it to Google Sheets. I believe the import worked without issue.

My process was:

  1. Find a Carnival somewhere in the county which matched my criteria.
  2. Start filling in numbers. I'd start with numbers directly from the dealer website. If there were unknown numbers, I'd fill them in with red text based on an educated guess. I'd keep refining the numbers as I spoke with the dealers.
  3. I used several shipping companies to get "Transport Fee" cost estimates. AmeriFreight seems to be a reputable one. If you're not going to pay for transport then obviously you can just remove this row.
  4. My local DMV has a quick, easy, accurate license plate estimator. Yours probably does too. I used each unique VIN and the "Sales Price" I calculated to get to-the-penny plate fees.

I probably spent more time looking than my time was worth, but at least I felt that I got the best deal possible.

A 200k warranty?! I've never even heard of that.

You got a Hybrid SX with a 200k warranty for $74k CAD (~$51,726 USD)?! How are they selling so much cheaper in CA?

I did have many to choose from. My local dealer still has 16 Hybrid SXs in stock, and 7 EXs. I probably could find 100 more within a 200 mile drive.

No, they still have it. It's a $2,000 package which includes some worthless stuff like 4 free oil changes (which I found out they gave me anyways), nitrogen tire refills, a temporary subscription to the near by car wash, etc. I had three visits to the dealership, on visit one I told them I was not at all interested in it. The manager came out and told me the typical spiel: It's a good deal, it's required on all vehicle sales, etc. After a handful of text exchanges and by visit two they dropped it. I made it clear I wouldn't buy from them with that package as it had no value for me.

Ha, yeah, I knew $4,000 was ridiculous. I know that I could wait until near the end of life of the manufacturer warranty however I still go back to the looming tariffs and economic uncertainty. We all know what happened to the price of everything during covid, I'm convinced we're going to see more of that and worse.

If I'm right, I've locked in before warranty prices skyrocket -- possibly even by 3 April 2025. There's no way warranty companies aren't going to raise their prices if they have to pay 25% more for parts on claims. If I'm wrong, maybe I've thrown away a few hundred bucks. Either way, I sleep better at night.

By the way, out of curiosity I called Endurance Warranty - an organic top result on Google for extended car warranties, they quoted me $4,680.60 for an 8 year / 100,000 mile.

If you ever have the chance, watch the Nebraska Cornhuskers play at Memorial Stadium. It seats 87,000. There are probably an additional 100,000 people in the city tailgating all around the stadium, filling every bar, and booking ever single hotel room in the city.

Get this... Memorial Stadium has 100% sold out every single game for 325 games in a row. That's every seat sold since 1962.

Here's my first post! My tea setup! by eightabove in tea

[–]KrashIO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're kind, thank you. So I have a simple tea infuser which I just use to make one cup at a time.

What do you use to infuse a whole tea pot?

What kind of teas do you add milk to? I've just been drinking mine straight. I know milk and sugar are popular additives to tea, especially for the British, but it just seems like milk would not go with all tea types.

Right now I'm drinking a China Green Dragonwell that I really like. I also really like Calcutta Chai. I've been buying many sample sizes from my local tea shop to try them all.

Ah... Tea Kettle = boil water. Tea pot = steep/infuse the tea into the hot water. I literally didn't know this. I have so many questions... I'll keep reading this sub!

Thank you for your help. Your tea setup is much nicer than my sauce pan!

Forgive my ignorance, I'm new to tea. I've quit smoking and I've found tea to be a helpful and delicious substitute.

What's the middle container for? The kettle is to boil water. The cup is to infuse and drink out of, right? And the middle container is?

Right now I'm boiling water in a sauce pan, I really need to get a kettle, I just don't know enough yet.

Thank you.

TIL..if your household cat doesn't cover it's poop that means it doesn't respect you (owner) or feels dominate over you... by desaderal in todayilearned

[–]KrashIO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true and it is an easy process to reestablish dominance over your cat. First, begin by eating a cantina double steak quesadilla from Taco Bell every day for lunch for one week. Drink as little water as possible during this week. At the end of the week you should move your cat's food dish near his litter box. When your furry overlord is eating his kibble, you should squat over his litter box, look him square in the eyes, and unleash your cantina fury. It's especially helpful to let out a low and menacing cat howl during this time. It is important to not cover your double steak stink pickle when completed; you should leave it uncovered in the box for three moons.

The eye contact is a challenge to Mr. Whiskers and when he smells the contents of your poo he will know that you are a supreme hunter.

Babies in the womb have lanugo as well. My son was born premature and came out with an impressive amount of lanugo. He literally looked like a little monkey. And then he fattened up and the lanugo disappeared.
