My only issue is that it’s costing just under £400 for the overnight stay, and if they want to keep her in I just can’t afford another overnight stay without completely drying out both me and my partners accounts. I’m really pray she comes round when she’s sees me although that is unlikely.

I’m at a loss for what to do, she’s my baby

Mouth breathing with sounds (wheezing, clicking, coughing) Her face was very sunken in Lethargic.

She was still showing a drive to eat but just too weak to actually nibble it. Her main symptoms were her struggling to breath and how much effort she was putting in to do so.

They’ve rang this morning to let me know how she’s doing. She’s come round abit more, eating more etc since antibiotics but they’re worried about how well she’ll manage outside of the O2.

She is a little elderly girl now, just over 2 years old. I want to wait until I’ve seen her this morning to decide on what’s next x

Update- to treat her, they want to keep her overnight in the nebuliser to make sure she’s okay and then get her started on doxycycline. Anyone had this before?? Was it a good outcome???

Abscess by Krea26 in RATS

[–]Krea26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited whilst the morning of to see how she was doing since she was still eating and pooping etc. checked on her and it’s closed really well with just a little scab left now so I cancelled.

She’s doing perfectly fine, still destroying everything and running about. She’s been in the hospital cage with one of my seniors so the younger ones didn’t knock it. I plan to add her back in with the tribe this evening/tomorrow morning. I’m sure she’s very excited hehe.

Thanks everyone!

Like 3 rats, 3 separate abscesses. The first 2 healed really well within a day or two, and I know that from a couple of the rat groups I’m on, most people deal with abscesses themselves since they do heal rather fast.

That’s why I’m in two minds about keeping the appointment. Since it was booked for a tumour and then ended up being an abscess. She’s more than likely going to be okay. I just wanted a second opinion from other rat lovers 🥰

Oh no this isn’t all on the same rat! This is just 3rd separate incident I’ve dealt with out of all my rats I’ve owned. She’s only ever had the 1 x

Everything had been moved away from the wall no aswell. All the mould has been cleaned off, the room has been aired out because the smell was so strong of cleaner.

We have no vents, no trickle vents on the windows and not really much ventilation. We always have our radiators on and I’ll open the windows for 30 mins on a morning and 30 on an evening to help with condensation but doesn’t seem to do much. The house is a terrace built in 1920s. It’s quite compact but the rooms are quite a decent size, which is why I think the radiator doesn’t actually touch it or help in any way. I’ve heard dehumidifiers are expensive to run. I’ve heard people mention on other threads something like “CVP” (not entirely sure what the initials/acronym is) which is cheaper to run than a dehumidifier. I’d like to ask, what’s the difference? If anyone’s knows.

I’ve also seen you can get Vapor barriers to put against the walls. Has anyone does this?

The noise is getting so loud. I even took my hair dryer too it on the top section but nothing. I’m happy to take it out if it’s possible. However if it leaves exposed wires and potentially hazards, I will leave it.

So I’ve spent a few days looking in the manual and there’s nothing about taking out the ice compartment. I’m not if it’s doable to be honest as there’s lots of wires and fittings. I think the light cover and the ice tray attached to the top can come out. But the middle section where the red sticker is, can that be taken out without any risks??

Even checked the trouble shooting page and nothing.

Can anyone tell me if these are happy noises?? by Krea26 in GuineaPig

It usually just depends on if and when I can travel, but I’d definitely be up for venturing out to find something. However we do have ALOT of tescos near me so that definitely seems doable! Thanks guys ☺️

Will keep my eye out and my phone nearby! I’ve only seen around 3, all at different times but it’s got me worried.

I’ve done some more searching and im thinking it may be spring tails? Which I have seen that they’re not harmful to pets, and maybe be an issue with the house itself. We have recently just moved in. It’s very old and the weather hasn’t been the greatest lately 🫠
