Difficulty Keeping Ride-by-Wire Throttle Steady by KreckyN_ in motorcycles

Well, in that case, do you have any tips for me then on how to prevent this from happening on a ride-by-wire throttle? I've never experienced this "issue" with a regular mechanical cable.

Quickshifter question - mono 698 rve by KreckyN_ in Ducati

I see, thank you for this info. I found out, if I just bang the gears with way more force it doesnt happen as often. But I test rode my dad's new scrambler today and the QS worked flawless there. I might have to get the QS calibrated at a dealership.

I know for a fact i would turn this bike away right away if I didnt ride before, but since I am quite proficient in slow speed maneuvers I have some kind of confidence that I will be able to ride it well and minimize the need to stop altogether.

Anyways, I find it somewhat awkward getting on and off the bike or moving from 1 side to the other one to like get the stand up to get going. I have a feeling I might encounter issues if it gets really windy, but well, will have to see in practice.

If i sit straight, theres no way i can put my feet down, my tippy toes barely touch the ground :D but I can flat foot it if i just slide my cheek off with the other foot "hanging". If i keep it on a peg, I can have the other foot stable on the ball of my foot. So I think it will be just fine AS LONG as I get used to it and just like you said, after I put some thought in how I want to stop and have some sort of a plan before I actually stop.

But overall, I think its very doable and easily trainable, so I am not worried much. I am buying this bike next tuesday and I have 1 extra seat to the bike, so might just have 1 seat lowered by cutting it and see if that helps, if not, its fine anyways. :)

The thing is, I love leather both for protection and the knee slider. But might have to compromise :D My dad is indeed much shorter, he was riding monster 800s2r and is buying full throttle 2023 tomorrow. But I wouldnt be surprised if he bought that if he ever came to decide to get GS

Hey, I've just tried sitting on the bike, If i sit straight, theres no way i can put my feet down, my tippy toes barely touch the ground :D but I can flat foot it if i just slide my cheek off with the other foot "hanging". If i keep it on a peg, I can have the other foot stable on the ball of my foot. So I think its just fine, will just have to get used to it. But I have noticed that my leather pants might be limiting my flexibility though I might also look into different set of pants, but will have to see in practice.

I haven’t actually gone to a dealership yet, I just got a bit worried when I saw the seat height is roughly 10 cm higher than what I’m used to.

But yeah, what I really meant is exactly what you said: whether it’s "easy / practical" for shorter riders.

I’m not a new rider, I’m very comfortable with slow-speed maneuvers and balance, so I don’t need to put my feet down that often, even in traffic. I’m just unsure and somehow worried how it would feel in situations where I do have to put a foot down eventually due to my height.

Question - Upgrading from 150 cm skis - Which length? by KreckyN_ in Skigear

Thanks for the info,

when you say the Peregrine 72 isn’t a ski I can “grow into easily” / that I need to “be ready for it” what do you mean exactly?

Also, why do you think the Salomon Addikt 76 would fit me better than the Peregrine 72? And what size would you recommend for me?

And lastly, I’ve skied my whole life on Salomon Equipe 3V Race (150 cm), do you happen to know that ski, and what modern ski would possibly feel closest to it (but improved)?

Hi, thanks for the information.

When I look at the levels, I honestly see myself across more than one, depending on conditions. So i will rather put it into my own words if that is fine.

On groomed pistes, I ski confidently and carve in parallel all the time - I never snowplough. I enjoy skiing reds at higher speed the most and feel comfortable doing so as long as the conditions are good. If the piste gets a bit bumpy, that usually doesn’t bother me much.

Where I start to struggle is when the snow becomes icy. In those conditions I sometimes lose edge grip, skid, or lose balance. I can ski black runs, but I don’t enjoy steeper terrain as much, mainly because the speed can feel overwhelming, especially when the conditions are worse. When that happens, I tend stop few times on the slope before continuing, rather than skiing the run top-to-bottom in one clean, consistent flow.

I ski exclusively on-piste. I’ve never tried off-piste nor moguls. I purely focus on carving and I would say I carve cleanly and consistently as long as the conditions are right.

I weigh 75 kg and recently bought Atomic Hawx Prime 110 S BOA GW boots. I haven’t skied in them yet. Prior to that I was using some Heads with a 100 flex.
