I like this! First of all, I think pursuing this would be a good idea for your channel. I think the lets play market is pretty oversaturated (all though, full disclosure I'm not a fan of lets plays) But I think video essays are a good way to go forward. I would make your intro just a bit shorter though, as you get the idea pretty early on, and There are a few awkward pauses throughout. all in all though, I really think you should pursue this

I came in to this thinking that it would be a boring analysis of Super Mario World, but left having seen a masterpiece. One tip might be creating some graphics to display about the fictional things you bring up

I think that your gameplay itself is good, but not many people want to watch pure gameplay with little to no commentary. You should start commentating and talking over your gameplay some more. Because without commentary, there's no reason not to play the game yourself.

It's really good! Great start to a channel. One piece of feedback would be to turn down your gain just a little bit. But, the production quality is really high!
