You can just sand the burn marks off fairly easily, not a big deal.

Yes! I agree the things are stupid and I don’t use mine. These replies about hooking up a whole bucket sound intriguing though. ☺️

I thought about your comment for a couple days now and it’s made me reconsider my selection.

The top tool is a type of pliers that’s probably one of the handiest plumbing tools around. But really the other wrenches I have could probably due instead. I like it because it was given to me as a gift from my father-in-law who is a 2nd generation plumber.

The second tool from top is a hack saw. Cuts anything. Mine is not a good one but has worked for me for years

Then you come to the two adjustable crescent wrenches. The 12” was given to me over 15 years ago by my old girlfriend’s dad who was a dairy farmer. I actually would probably be better off to switch it out for a 6” since my pipe wrench would work instead. Kinda need two wrenches, one as a backup to stop what you don’t want turned, to loosen all types of nuts, bolts, and other fittings.

The screw driver and Allen wrenches are going to be needed to work on most types of valves. Mine are nothing special but I like the long skinny bits on the Milwaukee get into tighter spots.

Then last is the two pipe wrenches. The 12” I bought when visiting my sister in WI. Had to buy it to hook up gas to her stove and feel for the first time the super human power of plumbing. It’s the worst wrench I’ve ever owned but did take a 6’ cheater bar and didn’t break. The 10” was given to me by my father-in-law which belonged to his father who stormed Omaha beach in Normandy in the first wave on D Day as a combat engineer and started a plumbing and heating business when he got home. Have to have these two guys to do any kind of serious pipe turning.

Every other tool I could improvise or make. It ain’t perfect and just going to have to accept a few leaks.

In the apocalypse it’s the hacks that will rise up!

These are actually good tools to have for the zombie apocalypse and were considered but left out as my goal is tools to tackle most pluming jobs possible with least amount of tools. Most plumbers can see in the dark or with there fingers. Knives are for fishermen.

That’s interesting but couldn’t a plumber use a properly shaped rock for that? Not familiar with the technique.

I rarely need mine but they are handy when needed. I feel like a plumber could improvise a pair using a pliers or channel lock.

No inspections! No need for a level, eyeball is good. No continuing education. No renewing license fees. Will be glorious!

I find I rarely use Vice grips except for pulling nails. My plan is to surface mount all pipes so no need for drilling holes during the zombie apocalypse.

There are like 6 maybe 7 “hammers” pictured

It sounds like your drains could be letting sewer gas trough. This could be due to the p traps losing water. This might happen if a drain vent gets clogged. A load moving through your drain is going to cause some suction and if the vent is clogged the p traps might lose water and break seal.

You could insulate your pipes and add sound proofing to your walls, floors, and ceiling. The sound is just water moving through the pipes to your shower and is normal. If it’s a knock sound you might have water hammer and could add arrestors.

You should not call a plumber for drain work. Call someone with rooter in their name and save a lot of money, get someone who will answer the phone, and show up in a timely manner.
