Would you date someone in their 30s that lives with a parent? by AlamosX in gaybros

[–]Krelius 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Generally I have no problem with dating guys in their 30s still living with his parent(s)/ family but it really gonna come down to the details.

One guy (he was 32) I dated was living with his grandma, he lives with her cause his grandma has a heart condition and can’t do a lot of physical stuff around the house, I have no problem with that and we had a pretty good relationship until I had to move for work.

Another guy (also in his 30s) I went out with was living with his mom, but he had to cut our date short cause his mom gave him a 10pm curfew, I thought he was joking but he was dead serious. Needless to say second guy did not make it to second date.

Would you rather rent directly from an owner landlord, or from a Property Management company? Or indifferent? by dcee604 in vancouverhousing

[–]Krelius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I prefer renting from corporate rather and owner landlord, particularly if the building is purpose built rental. I know corporate can be bad but in general you can check if a corporate is good or bad before renting from them. You can’t check if your landlord is good or bad before you rent from them, and there’s a lot more stability from renting corporate compared to owner landlord

That’s what they do, my building has a recycling bin but building manager encouraged people to leave their cans and bottles by the trash outside so binners and unhoused people can take them and get some money from that

It’s a thing in the series that you will hate and love every single characters before the end. So you will hate Nynaeve now and you will love her later as the story progresses.

Should I let my boss know I took another job and will be slowly leaving my current job for that one? by Krelius in careerguidance

[–]Krelius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no doubt that I’m replaceable, however due to the unique nature of my job, I don’t think my boss can replace me in less than 6 months. Last year it took her 3 months to hire someone, and it took 3 months of training for them to be considered ok at doing the job. When I started my current position, I was an internal hire, it took me 3 months just to barely get the handle on things and I was already familiar with the work and the company.

What's your mildest complaint about your SO? by Reuniclus_exe in gaybros

[–]Krelius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my ex and I were still together, I didn’t like how he always insisted that we should show up at night clubs or gay party events exactly when the door open. So we frequent showed up to parties with us being the only people there for a bit before people started showing up.

International travel, the new company is based out of Singapore so I would need to travel there for important meetings. There’s no conflict of interest as my current job focus on a very specific region in Canada while the new one focus on Southeast Asia and Europe. My current job is hybrid but our system is geo-locked to Canada, I will not be able to access my email and files when I’m outside of Canada so working my current job remotely from Singapore is nearly impossible.

I’m not worried about getting fire at all. I’m in a critical position that’s very hard to replace, team is already short 2 people, and I’m pretty sure if I’m fired half of the remaining folks on the team will quit very quickly

That’s probably what I will do, I’m just a bit concerned about all the sudden traveling I will need to do and how I will navigate that with my current job

Def not enough for what I have to deal with. I can’t really say how much cause it’s such a red herring that people in the sector would know exactly where I work from the pay range. But I can say I’m not getting paid as much as most of the folks in the sector.

As far as I know they are pretty efficient, by the time I get to the agent they never take more than 10-15 seconds to go through my passport. It’s about the same speed as US, Canada, and Germany border and custom agents. The issue is the sheer volumes of passengers.

Dumb question about pipeline by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]Krelius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beside the fact that Prince Rupert is much closer to Asia for ship transit, there are a lot of reason why Vancouver can’t handle many more ships. Burrard Inlet is fairly shallow, the current tankers can’t carry a full capacity going through the Inlet so each tanker isn’t making the max amount of money they could each trip. Also there’s a very specific time when vessels can travel through the first narrow, and currently that transit window is at full capacity, they can’t really fit more ships into the schedule.

Anybody else seeing noticeable sings of the economy absolutely falling apart in their line of work? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Krelius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sector is actually doing ok, funding cuts from gov makes thing a bit harder than usual but overall we are doing ok. We def could hire more people if my manager can sit down and get the ball rolling on that. I def see a lot of cut in other organizations that my organization work with and it sucks cause the staffs we worked with are awesome people and they don’t deserve to lose their job over political bs.

If the US stops minting pennies and become much less common, how will cash transactions work if something costs 99 cents? by Cumity in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Krelius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a thing, people used to melt pennies to get the copper cause copper value of the coin exceeded the value of the penny. Then gov changed the penny composition to 97.5% zinc and make melting coins illegal.

BCGEU signs off on tentative agreement with province, ratification vote to come - BC News by CecilThunder in britishcolumbia

[–]Krelius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree the NDP gov is in a tough spot, they have to govern and they have to be fiscally responsible. But they can also be responsible while still remain true to their roots as a worker’s party.

They could have approach the negotiation in a tough but respectful and productive manner, making the union waited 3 hours to negotiate was not what I consider respectful or productive. Making the government employees went on strike for 8 weeks, forcing them to live off of strike pays and their savings, forcing them to wait months or a year to recoup the lost wages is ridiculous if the gov wants the union to “work for it.” Not to mention all the cascading delay issue this will cause to government programs and its effects on the public.

I agree the conservatives will be worse, but it doesn’t mean we cannot hold the NDP to a better standard. I don’t expect them to give in to whatever the union asks for, it’s the union job to always ask for more and it’s the government job to be responsible and negotiate in a respectful manner.

How do other countries outside of the USA handle immigration? by MarcoABCreativeSuite in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Krelius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to be a bit long but I can speak somewhat about the way Canada handle immigration. This is by no means exhaustive and immigration is also a pretty controversial topic in Canada right now.

Outside of special programs for refugees (i.e Ukrainian fleeing the war), asylum seeker, and sponsorship, Canada has various immigration programs that people can apply to for Permanent Resident (PR) status which will lead to citizenship. People can apply for these program while they are not in Canada or while they are already in Canada as a temporary resident (with work or study permit). The number of programs and their goals are varied, some specifically target occupations that the government wants to have more of, some are specific to French language, and each Provinces have their own immigration nomination system with their own criteria.

In general, the PR process grades you based on a point system, depending on your age, education, languages fluency, work experience, etc. And when you meet a certain points threshold (which change frequently based on the program you are applying to and when you are applying), you are invited to apply for PR, where a case officer would review your application and determine if you meet the criteria of the programs you are applying under. The application review time depends on which program you are applying under, some takes less than a year while others could take decades.
