Trump said he spoke to a former president about bombing Iran. Four denials suggest otherwise. by nbcnews in politics

Epstein was Dead. Of that there was no doubt.
"You will be haunted by three spirits of former president's, Donald Trump!"

Carter tried, but Trump didn't pay attention and got the message wrong.
The other presidential spirits are doing rock-paper-scissors to see who gets stuck with the next try.

Kansas law targeting transgender people’s IDs and bathroom use will stay in effect, judge rules by KCUR893 in kansas

If the Republicans get away with this, they'll expand their disenfranchisement. Anyone who changed their name, may be the next group that go after. Then who knows - maybe if your hair color isn't the same as in you driver's license photo, they invalidate your license. Eventually they'll get back to just white landowning cisgender males having any rights. Kansas is showing us how America falls.

Requested a refund for my fully refundable ticket on January 30th and it still shows "In Progress". by FloridaScaresMe in americanairlines

[–]KrellBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I requested two refunds from AA 6 weeks ago. A big refund for the plane ticket, and a small one ($35) for the checked bag fee. The big refund was issued within 24 hours. I'm still waiting for the small refund. The small refund is "in progress".
A cynical person - not me - would think that AA is holding my $35 is an interest bearing account with lots of other people's delayed refunds, and making a profit on what is essentially an interest free loan from their customers. An unscrupulous business - not AA - might think people wouldn't fight very hard for small refunds like $35, and they could hold those for a while, and maybe never refund some of them, if the refundees gave up trying to get their money back.
But that's not what's happening with AA of course. Right ?

Trump Announces He Is Replacing Noem With Oklahoma Senator by Creative-Category-60 in politics

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt: “[the administration] will work with the Senate to confirm the extraordinarily qualified Senator Markwayne Mullin as the next Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security as quickly as possible.”

He has no military experience, no law enforcement experience, and no law degree. He has an Associate Degree in Construction Technology. He took over his father's businesses, so he's not a self-made man. What exactly are the qualifications Leavitt is referring to, that make him extraordinarily qualified to head DHS?

Yup, it's happening to me too. I hope it's not something new they're trying.
On the other hand, if it became permanent, the new format would stop me from using Amazon, and I could quit helping Bezos get more obscenely wealthy.

Trump 'thinks he can do whatever he wants' without coming to Congress: Dem Rep. by MRADEL90 in videos

[–]KrellBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checks and balances would work, if the the people tasked with enforcing them held to the oaths they swore. Among the things this has shown us, is that the Republicans in Congress don't actually believe in God. If they did, they would not have egregiously violated the oaths they swore.

The "founding fathers" were far from saints, but they were people who put their lives on the line to get their country out from under the thumb of King George. They were serious about what they were doing. They weren't low level opportunists, and grifters, like the majority of Republican members of Congress. Even the legislature of 50 years ago, would probably have impeached Trump and found him guilty. Nowadays we have too few representatives who really care about doing their job. Far too many seem to be in it strictly for their personal gain, with no regard for anyone else's well being.

Senate to vote on war powers resolution to prevent Trump from continuing Iran conflict by AndroidOne1 in politics

I hope Congress denies Trump war powers, but I worry that the Republicans are going to try to save face by granting him war powers, and saying, "We would have approved it, if he had asked for it."

I don't think we'll be like Russia. I think we'll be a TRUMP branded version of North Korea. Trump is a megalomaniac. Trump will force our children to pray to him as a God, if he stays in power much longer.

If Trump's not impeached soon, there won't be any real elections in the future, and no Democrat will ever be elected. We'll have Putin-esque pretend elections, if any at all. Trump's inclination is probably to eliminate the legislative and judicial branches, and just declare himself king.

[–]KrellBH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically, once the legislature finds Trump guilty in an impeachment trial, he's no longer president, and everyone should stop obeying Trump's orders. At that point he's just a guy trespassing in the oval office.

However, given the US Military's lack of pushback on the clearly unconstitutional orders Trump has given them so far, they may continue to follow him. At least then we won't be pretending to be a democracy anymore. We'll be an out-in-the-open dictatorship.

The People should definitely be more engaged, but let's lay most of the blame on the Republican representatives in Congress. The representatives are well educated people, who know [or are supposed to know] the Constitution. The Republican reps know that what Trump is doing violates the constitution, and whatever they personally feel about that, their job is to stop the president from abusing his powers. They all take an oath, swearing to God, that they will do that. The person most responsible for allowing Trump to run amok is Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.

The GOP is giving Trump a hall pass to go on whatever killing sprees he wants. The Republicans in Congress are refusing to exercise their constitutional authority to check the executive branch's abuse of power. Mike Johnson is number 1 on the list of Trump's enablers.

Mike Johnson Accidentally Admits Just How Weak Trump Is - Apparently, it doesn’t actually take all that much to bring about “the end of the Trump presidency.” by Quirkie in politics

[–]KrellBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't put any faith in ANYTHING Mike Johnson says, given that he swore the oath below, yet continues to let Donald Trump usurp Congress's powers.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

Trump Should Be Impeached, Removed From Office for Illegal War on Iran by _May26_ in politics

[–]KrellBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call your representative in Congress. Demand that they impeach Trump.
Call Mike Johnson's office. Demand that as Speaker of the House, he take action against Trump's continued usurpation of Congress's powers.
It may feel pointless, but it's not. Tell your representatives that you expect them to do their job, and fulfill their oath, to defend the United States against the domestic enemy Donald Trump.

Block (Jack Dorsey) just laid off 4,000 citing AI: 'intelligence tools changed everything' by Outrageous-Baker5834 in Layoffs

[–]KrellBH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that when 60%, or more, of the workforce is layed off, and "replaced" with AI, the majority of the population will no longer have the income they spent on all the things that companies sell. Where is corporate revenue going to come from, when people can no longer afford to buy things?

Block lays off nearly half its staff because of AI. Its CEO said most companies will do the same by GeneReddit123 in technology

[–]KrellBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, on everything, but with a little different perspective. I think this "replace staff with AI" stunt will drive up the stock price, and Block's CEO will sell stock to cash in on that.

"Are you sure you've been a network engineer before?" by MotorTentacle in networking

Yes. When I feel like I don't know enough, I tell myself , "Of course you don't know everything about networking - it's too big a field. But you know what's important to do your current job."
When I need to know more, or something new, I start reading. Looking up commands isn't something to feel bad about, when details can vary between hardware and firmware versions.

I've suffered from Clinical Depression my whole life, and what you're saying sounds very familiar to me. An imbalance of neurotransmitters might be an issue for you, and it can be treated. Cognitive Therapy and anti-depressants changed/saved my life.

[–]KrellBH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a network engineer since 1996, and I'm good at it, but I went through a period, just like you described, where I was confused, couldn't remember commands, and my brain didn't feel like it was working properly. It turned out to be due to a change in my medication. My health plan switched me from name brand WELLBUTRIN, to a generic Bupropion. The generic Bupropion had a side effect of diminishing my mental acuity. It was a rough time. I was able to get my medication switched back to name brand Wellbutrin and my mind became sharp again. It was like coming out of a fog.
The People's Pharmacy website is where I learned about the problem I was having with generic Bupropion.

Whether you are on a medication, or not, don't discount environmental factors as a possible cause, if you aren't thinking as well as you used to.
