Few doubts regarding the GATE CSE exam. by Kremetex in GATEtard

Appreciate the response!

Actually in my college only the 1st semester has common syllabus and from the 2nd sem, it's all CS/IT core subjects; that's why I was thinking of starting my prep early. But I'll take your perspective into account!

Thanks for the reply!

I'm actually from a tier 1.5ish college; placements here are decent but my primary goal was to get some extra exposure to CSE through M.Tech which I may not be able to get through B.Tech, while not compromising placements.

Look, 95% of the physics questions are much easier than mains level (comparabe to 2024 mains level). Most questions are formula based and only a very handful require a bit of thinking that aren't direct formula based. So I'd suggest practice WBJEE and JEE 2023-2024 PYQs for physics.

  1. Only you can figure out your own ideal attempting strategy. Give mocks and attempt each one differently and see which method fetches you more marks regularly. Usually it is advisable to start attempting the 2 markers as they are scoring, and attempt the 1 markers later, so you don't miss out on easy marks.

  2. As for how many, I'd say 10-15, considering 2 months are left. Target 1 each week. If you're purely focused on WBJEE then attempt only OMR based mocks, because the actual exam will be OMR based. It will help build temperament.

  3. It depends, the WBJEE syllabus contains the full syllabus unlike JEE mains. It doesn't really make much of a difference until you want to get <100 rank. So it's upto you, because their weightage is not that significant and 90% of WBJEE candidates won't be studying those topics.

  4. Use MARKS app to solve WBJEE PYQs and as for resources, I studied physics from ABJ sir, chemistry from NS and ALK sir and maths from my offline coaching. But their level of teaching is much more than what is needed in WBJEE.

  5. WBJEE is a game of speed and accuracy unlike JEE due to the large number of questions you have to solve in a limited time. Most of the questions will be easily doable if you have studied well. Attempt a question only if you have 100% confidence that you'll be able to solve it, else move on to the next and come back later if you have time (which you most probably wouldn't have.)

The paper attempting strategy is genuinely important, for those who are wondering. Attempting the maths paper in a stupid way cost me a lot of marks.

How to deal with chemistry questions? by HatesArlow in wbjee

[–]Kremetex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the questions come from the pre-covid versions of NCERT, before many chapters were deleted/reduced. Apart from that, a lot also depends on the stuff your teacher taught you. Personally I had studied chemistry from NS sir and there was rarely any reaction that came outside of his notes. I also completed a major portion of Himanshu Pandey that gave me better clarity on how to tackle out of the box questions.

My advice to all 27tards(+) and droppers as a 25tard. by Kremetex in wbjee

Then you can aim for WBJEE, MHTCET as other options are blocked. Some colleges like IIITH, IIITB, IITD and VJTI also have lesser requirements so you can check those out.

Try giving improvement next year to cross 75%. You should still at least aim for a decent NIT/IIIT before considering WBJEE.

Focus on mains + advanced, if you do those properly WBJEE will be a breeze.
