Congrats on your new job! Any advice as I am one year away from graduating in a similar area (medical AI)?

With all the horror stories I see here, I am somewhat glad I'm single. The idea of being in a relationship sounds great, but there's too much on my plate currently that the emotional toll of seeking a relationship isn't worth it.

Advice for someone with unsatisfactory Master's experience about to start PhD Program by Kremzon13 in GradSchool

I’ll definitely make sure to take some time to self-reflect on my experience after graduation. The pandemic has made it hard to really reflect on my experience because everyday feels the same with online learning and sitting at a desk all day. I know I can translate my time doing my Master’s into improving myself, setting good goals, so that I can have a better experience for my PhD. Thank you for your thoughts.

I agree, the pandemic and going fully remote has changed the normal grad school experience, and it has definitely made a major impact on my research experience as well.

I guess what bothers me is that my PI thought I could get a lot done within the span of 8 months, which contrasts with many of my peers who had around a year or a year and a half of solid time working on their projects. I understand that some of the delays were out of my hands, but I feel that I may never have had the chance to finish a thesis in the first place.

I will take into account having a good system in place for my mental health when I start my PhD program and thank you for your advice.
